This is one of SA's major universities. They have a decent restaurant on site and nice grounds to walk, A bit of student unrest of late does not make it the safest place to go.

During a geology conference we were able to meet some of the outstanding professors and scholars from Witwatersrand University. The University has a few campuses and it is lovingly called the Wits. The main campus is in the central Johannesburg.
