WOW! Hidden within the corporate head office building 5 of Standard Bank in the middle of Johannesburg is a hidden gem that is really a great find.
While they were building the Standard Bank Head office a section of the Ferreira Mine was discovered and the banking company went the extra mile of preserving this.
Very interesting and great exhibit, for the tired tourist there are well kept restrooms and a coffee shop as well as a bank.
Really worth a visit, will definitely go again.

Standard bank was built on an old gold mine. The mining tunnels were discovered during construction of the building in the 80's. Glad to see the history is preserved in the Mineshaft Museum.

Pretty neat how they preserved the mine under a modern building. Worth the quick stop if you are wandering around.
