A 5 course meal in the Sammy Marks Kitchen is a highlight of heritage tourism in South Africa. One cannot help but to be transported back to the day when Sammy was living in this house - it is so well preserved and the atmosphere with it! Brilliant activity for the history lover!

Having been here before the deterioration in the restaurant's service (you wait 40 minutes for your lemonade) is markedly. We couldn't get food due to the long delay. The tour is also disappointing and not as good and detailed as before. Limited information is conveyed about Sammy Marks some of which is irrelevant.

Nestled among the Bluegum trees, on the way to Bronkhorstspruit, this is a MUST VISIT for anyone who loves history, in particular South African late 19th Century history. Also anyone who wants to find out how different Peoples, Afrikaners, Jews, Brits, etc can co-exist, even (and particularly) during War-times!! Sammy Marks was truly the Uncrowned King of the Transvaal!"

Be sure to book a guided tour of the house. It is really interesting to see all the rooms and to hear the stories of how all the furniture, crockery and cutlery was shipped from England and then carted cross-country by ox wagon - including a grand piano. Seeing the billiard room where Sammy and Oom Paul used to chill... More

Went to this attrition for an assignment for our degree. Had fun and learned about the Mark family and their friendly ghost at the house.

We ordered a Sunday picnic lunch for 6 at the restaurant operating at the Sammy Marks museum. It was servied with elegance and style. We enjoyed the food and the wine. The fresh French baguette was a nice complement to the entire experience. We then went on a tour of the Sammy Marks museum. The tour guide was knowledgeable and... More

What an experience! I've visited the house more than 5 times and love it every time and learn something new every time. This time I traveled with my mother and a guest and we were the only people on the tour. The guide went out of her way to make the visit unforgettable, even though it was actually close to... More

Yvonne, our guide was such a pleasure. Very knowledgeable and passionate about the Museum. I can highly recommend this as an interesting day out with the family. I want to rush back for the Ghost dinner.
