A great place to get a better understanding of South African history and ideal way to spend a couple of hours, particularly if the weather is cool or wet. Well presented with audio and video detailing apartheid shows the truth about that terrible period! There is also a great coffee shop. A must visit place.

A must see part of the Apartheid story In the suburbs of Johannesburg Rivonia/Liliesleaf farm was purchased on the sly as a hideout and place for the leaders of the struggle against apartheid to plan etc The famous 12 were put on trial after the raid on the farm by police and the whole story is excellently told through the... Liliesleaf is a modern, multi-media type museum which makes you understand the story behind the ANC efforts to fight for democracy in South Africa and which lead to the arrests and condemnation of its activits, like Nelson Mandela. You can spend an interesting two hours here.

We were slightly confused by the gps leading us to a gated estate, we forged ahead and asked the security guard who informed us that the place is inside the estate. Lilies farm is not really a farm, it was just called that. It was a secret hide out for civil rights leaders and it was the place where Nelson... More

Took an American friend to give her quick insight into SA resistance history from 1960 to 1994. Spent over three hours in what is actually quite a small space because of the wealth and depth of info presented in film and sound clips as well as reconstruction of the historic house. And the cafe serves really good light meals -... More

Not only is the Museum excellently put together, the facilities well equipped and the food very good, but this historic site will serve any student/scholar of South Africa's history well.

This farm was the hide-out for Mandela and his co-conspirators. Through the restored buildings and clever videos, it tells the dramatic story of the arrest and imprisonment of the courageous group.

Popped in on a Saturday afternoon. Was quiet. The museum is excellent. Well with the visit to get an understanding of the circumstances leading to the Mandela, Sisulu, Kathrada and other Rivona trialisist arrest and incarceration. Great intereractive areas with very recent interviews. As a Gauteng resident, this was an eye opener.
