GREYVILLE RACECOURSE Home to Africa's Greatest Horseracing Event, the Vodacom Durban July, Greyville Racecourse hosts top class horseracing events in South Africa all year round. Framed in the background by the many hotels of Durban's Golden Mile, Greyville Racecourse is situated at the bottom of Durban's Berea and surrounds the green expanse of Royal Durban Golf Club's championship course. Greyville is well known for its Night Racing and has a turf and polytrack so no matter what the weather the show goes on. For seven months of the year Greyville hosts night racing every Friday evening which is extremely popular with the public and features entertainment for the entire family, including a special section just for children. The months of May, June and July celebrate all the horseracing stars when South Africa's top equine athletes descend on Durban for South Africa's Champion Season.

A cousin surprised us with a meal for two at The Durban View Restaurant. Buffet selection is always good, everything from cold meats to salads and curries and roasts and deserts. Awesome view of the track and winning post. Each table had a television to watch the race, closeup. Great fun evening had

It is busy with lots of people. The Fashion is Fantastic. There are faction completions for singles man and woman and also couples. Really a must see. Food a bit of a problem, reserve in advance or otherwise you need to go for street food. Well organised and clean.

This is apparently such a good venue that a couple of times a year the traffic in the whole area has to come to a standstill that spreads out so far it affects traffic in the whole city.

Greyville racecourse is centrally situated and so easily accessible from all areas in and around Durban. The best time to visit is from October through to April each year where night racing is a regular Friday evening event. General entrance is free and its both family and kid friendly. For a casual evening out, there are outdoor benches and umbrellas... More

We thoroughly enjoyed the day at the most fashionable races around. Some over the top costumes were good for a laugh and the hospitality facilities in the centre of the track were delightful. The best race of the day was the traditional but unofficial race 13 in the buff run to amuse us all! Parking is a problem so park... More

Attended Africa's premier horse rating event on the first Saturday of July. The day went off without a hitch. The many events companies were able to cater for the thirsty and hungry pundits. We shared the day with colleagues and had a great time in the Pegasus Lounge. Our view was great and bar service was excellent.

This is the only prestigious remaining horse race course in Durba after the closure of Clairwood race course, midweek night racing is very spectacular. Greyville Racecourse is popular know world wide for its annual July Handicap event.
