A piece of India in Africa, most sellers do high pressure selling, that you have to get used to, and learn to barter. Most tours will take you here. Just keep your wits about you, and go in large parties.

Go at your own risk. Not a place for relaxed walking around or, casual shopping. The whole environment is unsafe.

Wonderful place to visit. All the store personnel were friendly. I would especially suggest the curry shop. The store owner gave a informative presentation on curry spices and how to mix them for your personal taste.

Hi there, how did you get to Victoria Street Market in Durban, did you get a Uber/taxi? Did you feel safe to walk around on your own or do you think it's best to get a tour guide? We'd like to take our son there to have a look around but are unsure of the safety precautions. Thanks! Carla

Are there reliable car guards? The area around the building is a bit of concern...Is there safe parking available?
