While walking towards the beach one Saturday or Sunday we were held up by traffic from crossing the rd, as we waited we noticed the old fort that was closed but looked interesting from the front, looking at the front wall a lady came and said they were open but the gate had been left shut , inviting us in... this is a scenic park with the Old Fort Church . i have been here for weddings ,christening and memorial services

Very well preserved piece of local history and very beautiful to walk thru. Owner was onsite and offed to open the chapel up for us to see. Very friendly and full of info on the history of the place.

there is a model of the old fort at the gardens entrance and chapel is really nice and still in use for weddings and christening

A great place in the city for a little peace and quiet. Historic chapel for most inter-demoninational services run by a really nice couple. Gardens were tidy and well kept. There is also a history museum on the property.

Plenty historical viewing and nice memories.Chapel very quaint.We got married there in 1980 and the memory will remain forever!!Nice and peaceful garden to watch the birds and enjoy your lunch.Entrance is free and parking is available in area opposite park.

this is our Durban history and gives you the general idea that Durban is actual not a very old city with this happening in 1842 it is set in a lovely garden with the dainty chapel and the warriors gate museum

Close to other museums in downtown Durban, the Old Fort is definitely one place for those interested in war history and are fond of war memorials. There is so much history here and the small park itself is well kept and maintained. However the trip will not be complete if you will not be able to visit the adjacent MOTH... More

Very interesting. Every tourist should visit Ithe old fort . I have visited on several occasions , the last in 2010

Travelling South Africa on business I always try and look out for 'out the way, forgotten gems' to visit as often as possible. So, on that note, if you find yourself at a loose end (or just fancy having some quiet time) it's worth an hour wander around The little chapel/church and gardens are scenic and respite from the intensity...
