Once, the Sani Pass was a rough mule trail descending the Eastern Highlands of old Basutoland into Natal. Tough drovers brought wool and mohair down the Pass on donkeys and mules to be exchanged for blankets, clothing and maize meal, the essentials for life in a remote, impoverished country. And a young man had a dream of operating a motor vehicle service up this fantastic Pass, using the 4-wheel drive vehicles he had seen on service in World War II. His name was David Alexander and he founded this Company in 1955. It has operated on the Sani Pass ever since.

Booked a Day a trip with Sani Pass Day Tours. The trip did not dissapoint, lived up to expectations and more. Our guide Wilson was articulate; very knowledgeable; charismatic and aware. The road requires a skilled driver and even then some. We felt safe with Wilson. He made the day fun and we appreciated his attentiveness. Would absolutely recommend the... More

We took the tour to Sani Pass on October 19 having transferred from Durban with another tour company. There were 5 other people with us, all from different countries. We had a GREAT day! The guide "Leo" was funny and gave us a lot of insight to life in this area. The most important thing is that he was a... More

We opted to contact Sani Pass Tours (the first company that pops up when you Google Sani Pass) to find out whether we could tag along on a trip up Sani Pass. Not knowing Sani Pass and where the best photo opportunities were, we thought it would be better to follow someone that knows the area. We travelled with our... More

If you are in the area, spare a day for Sani Pass. Sani Pass Tours was great, very friendly staff and the guide was well informed. There was no question he couldn't answer about the world heritage site. This was a day well spend.

Went up as a part of group and it was very enjoyable. Great driver and knowledgeable especially with the many questions asked. Pub food was decent and the views spectacular. Really a great choice with very good and patient tour staff. Enjoyable trip... Sani Pass an African gem!

Beautiful rode through the pass with a stop at the border post,a quick visit to a little village and a stop at the highest pub in Africa. Our driver was very informative and made stops wherever necessary for photo opportunities.

We took the trip to Sani Pass with Sani Pass Tours. Our guide Wilson treated us to an absolutely fantastic trip stopping many times along the way to show us various wildlife, birds and scenery. At the top of Sani we were taken to places where snow had fallen and Wilson was happy to assist us with taking photos for... More

First impressions were amazing, friendly helpful and insightful staff. Their guides/drivers have to be the most amazing guides I have ever encountered, points to a bunch of rocks and says Eland... huh? Sure enough the rocks stand up and start to move... Eland of course! Spots the most brilliant lizard sunning himself on the rocks, knows the mountains intimately and... More

Since we were in the Drakensberg with our 4 year old and hiking with her was out, we were glad to have booked the Sani pass tour. Our tour guide Roger was knowledgeable and professional. 4x4 felt a bit old and worn down inside but we felt safe especially at some of the more treacherous turns. We would stop regularly... More

The ride up the Sani Pass into Lesotho was a truely amazing experience. Our driver, Phillip Grant was knowledge, interesting and entertaining. The scenery has to be seen to be believed and being amongst local people and invited in for home made bread and beer was a privilege. Many thanks Phillip.
