The Waterside Lodge at Thornybush, next to the Kruger National Park, was undoubtedly the highlight of our holidays in South Africa. Completely set in a natural and wilde environment by a lake with hippos who came out at night walking between the bungalows. We were...More

Next to the Kruger park but still separate. You can't drive on your own but just with the lodges. They have all the big 5 and even more, you won't be disappointed.

There were salads and vegetarian food available and usually a choice. I cannot imagine that this would be a problem. Staff were always helpful and contacting them beforehand should sort this out and reassure you.

Thornybush adjoins Kruger, but don't know the distance, sorry. The good thing is there are no fence boundaries between Thornybush and Kruger, so the animals roam freely into both areas.
