This Park is very pleasant and we saw an incredible amount of animal species in only 24h spent there: roan, sable, waterbuck, oryx, black springboks, giraffe, zebra, tsesseb, blesbok, buffalo, wildebeast, hartebeast and other antelopes. Another great thing about it is that even though it isn't that big, you don't come across many cars on the road.

Mokala National Park contains a variety of species of antelope , buffalo Giraffe and rhino. Visiting after recent rains there were more roads cut off to a significant portion of the park and the usable roads were rough and slippery. It is not really a place for sedan cars at all. The antelope variety is interesting, Rhino though elusive were... More

Mokala is a South African national park that has charm. We have just completed our third trip there and it has been delightful. Mokala may not have the Big 5 but that can be a very poor indicator of game viewing experience. Mokala has bok and you can see them. We saw 22 variety of mammals in one day and... More

SA's latest addition to the National Parks, turn-off is 55km south of Kimberley on the N12 - then 20 km good dirt road. Beautiful area - we visited after a period of lots of rain and found lush, green vegetation everywhere. Saw many animals including a few special ones (for us) e.g. Tsessebe, Oryx, Bat-eared Fox, Cape Buffalo etc. Campsite... More

Stayed two nights at Lillydale camp in Mokala National Park. Accommodation on the basic side but very clean - do not quite understand why there a bath and no shower in the bathroom, surely showers are more waterwise! Units are NOT serviced so be prepared to make your own beds and wash your own dishes (not a problem by us).... More

We looked forward to our weeks holiday at Mokala with friends. The park appeared to have had a lot of rain as it was very green. The campsites were quite disappointing. No cleaning of the weeds around the camp and the view of the waterhole was non existent. The service at the restaurant was worse than dismal. I can take... More

Mokala National park is a well kept secret. What a gem!! It has the rugged beauty of the Karoo. Despite the fact that the big 5 does not feature there, there are lots of other endangered species like Roan antelope, black wildebeest, etc. Accomodation are typical SANPARKS style but reasonably well kept. All the staff displays the typical Nortern Cape friendliness. Definitely worth... More

Stayed two nights in the kameeldooring treehouse. The treehouse is simple yet has everything you need. The staff at Mosu were amazing, the restaurant service and food excellent. The rock engraving/game drive highly recommended and the interpretation centre well worth a visit. Game a plenty, roads good but need high clearance or 4x4 especially after / during rain. Will certainly return... More

I thoroughly enjoy my time in Mokala. I stayed two nights in Mosu and two nights in lilydale, I think this is how you should do it. Both camps are very different. Geographically Lilydale is really nice because it's situated on the river and surrounded by big open grass plains. Mosu's vegetation is very different and much more rocky and... More

The landscape looks like Masai Mara - savannah plains. We saw several rhinos and large herd of buffaloes and antelopes. However, facilities need to improve. I suggest to visitors to get clear directions before you start. This is a large reserve and you can tired driving in search of your rest camp. We were not given proper directions to the... More
