Surely one of the world's best drives?

I love driving and have been fortunate to drive on some awesome roads (Route Napoleon in France, San Bernadino Pass in Switzerland and road 500 in the Black Forest). This is on... read more

This road has plenty of history - named after one of the crew of an English ship that was becalmed in the bay back in the 1600's. The actual road was commissioned at the start of the 20th century. Then, over the years, it has opened and closed several times for repairs after natural damage (wind/rain and fire, rock fall... More

I love driving and have been fortunate to drive on some awesome roads (Route Napoleon in France, San Bernadino Pass in Switzerland and road 500 in the Black Forest). This is on par with those experiences and is a MUST if you enjoy scenic driving. Two things though - traffic means you may not be able to go that fast... More

This has got to be one of the most beautiful drives in the world, every turn every bend gives you another astonishingly beautiful view, I would recommend this to everyone, if there is only one thing to do in Cape Town do this drive. Thank you Cape Town for keeping it so clean and in such good condition.

When in Cape Town this is definitely a must. The road will be winding but the views are stunning! Make sure to stop at some of the lookout points and enjoy the views overlooking Longbeach between Noordhoek and Kommetjie, the views in between and the view over Houtbay. Enjoy

It is logical to do the drive either to or back from Cape Point with a visit to the penguins at Boulder over on the other side of the peninsular on the other leg. Views are very good and worth the trip.

Stunning cliff-edge views of the coast between Cape Town and the Cape Point. Pick a nice day and there are some very nice looking picnic spots with tables and shade trees right by the side of the road that you can take advantage of.

This is an incredible coastal drive. If you are not a confident driver you might find it a little scary at times as the roads are narrow and often you are only a few feet away from a sheer drop! But what views you get. Lots of places to pull over and appreciate the amazing scenery. If I remember correctly... More

We have driven Chapman's Peak drive a couple of times whilst staying in Hout Bay and the views are amazing, the section where you cut through the edge of the mountain is breath taking with the rock overhang! You can get a great photo from the car window! There are lots of places to pull in on route. We actually... More

This is a definite if you visit the Cape. This is one of the most beautiful drives in the world. On the one side you can go to Hout Bay for lunch (snoekies if you want old style snoek and chips). On the other side make your way to Kalk Bay (Brass Bell another old institution) or just walk around... More
