I've hiked up Platteklip Gorge many times, it's popular and a direct route straight up, between the cliffs/gorge. It's stunning. It's also very steep. If you're not marathon or half marathon running fit, you'll need lots of breaks to catch your breath, allow at least 90 mins possibly more. If are that fit, it's still quite a challenging climb but... More

We took a 7 mile hike along the rim and quickly got away from the crowds, incredible views, wear good boots or shoes, be careful about the weather and some worry about personal safety alone on the trail. Just be attentive. World class experience.

I went in the evening and walked around the top for a while standing on the edge. It was awe inspiring. I loved looking and drinking in the scenery to the point my companion was giving me crap about not taking pictures. I was to busy enjoying. On one side is the city and the other the 12 apostles and... More

A must do at Table Mountain, cable car ride is great with a 360 degree rotation. Up at the mountain, the view is spectacular, one side is the great ocean and the other side is the view of the town. Numerous trials are available up there so remember to bring a picnic basket for a good hike to fully enjoy... More

A must do trip when in Capetown. The queues can be lengthy so book online if you can - although you can't predict the weather up there - so a queue on a good day may be the way to go.

Cable car takes up up to mountain top and there are various view points to look down on Cape Town. Hiking trails to possible walk down, Haze and strong winds will close the cable cars. Snacks available at the top. Can be windy at times and cold in the winter.

We have visited Capetown several times over the past 4 years but this was the first trip to the top of Table Mountain. Unless you go very early the queues for entry to the cable car are long and in the heat can be a little uncomfortable for children. Although it sounds odd the trick is not to pre pay... More
