Our recent trip to South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana was truly a trip of a lifetime! Our itinerary included a perfect mix of experiences - big city (Johannesburg & Cape Town), unique safari camps (Chobe National Park & Moremi Game Reserve), and wonderful scenery - Victoria Falls, Cape of Good Hope & Cape Winelands.

We had up close and personal encounters with many amazing animals, learned so much about the history and culture of South Africa, tasted amazing wine and met wonderful people.

Our accommodations, tours, guides, and transfers were all outstanding. Our agent at Lion World, John Almeida, did an amazing job of planning our itinerary, answering all our questions and making sure all of our needs and requests were met, always with true professionalism and kindness.

We were a group of ten travelers and everyone was extremely pleased with this trip and would highly recommend Lion World for any future travelers.

Wow. My friend originally booked our trip, the Pride of SouthAfrica in 2019 for a 2020 departure . It included Capetown (Twelve Apostles Hotel), Amakhosi Safari Lodge and Spa and Durban (Oyster Box hotel) of course due to the pandemic we postponed our trip 2x and finally made it there April 2022. Jean at Lion World worked with us every step of the way. Initially the price included airfare but by 2021 airfare wasn’t included but tour price decreased. It actually worked out the same. This tour was incredible. The hotels and the lodges and the included meals were all exceptional and so attentive to our needs. The food was sumptuous. Capetown is so breathtakingly beautiful. We absolutely loved the Cape Peninsula tour and Table Mountain. Amakhosi was so relaxing yet exciting. We did 6 game drives and saw the big 5, lions chasing rhinos and a giraffe and a huge herd of elephants. Amakhosi was so cozy and relaxing. We loved our River Suite- it was huge. I would highly recommend Lion World, this itinerary the 2 hotels and Amakhosi Lodge we stayed in and the Cape Peninsula tour where we saw wild ostrich, baboons and penguins. Jean provided us with a detailed tip guide that was very helpful. All our transfers and guides were prompt, professional and extremely knowledgeable. They added to the experience. Jean also helped us book our flights. This is one of my favorite trips I ever took. We actually ended up paying $400 each supplement as we were only ones on this tour but that really was nice for us. This trip still was a great value , especially considering what we saw and where we stayed, if a Costco member, you can get additional savings. We did not want to leave Amakhosi and wished we were there another night . It could be a very romantic trip- I was with a friend,

Wow, what a fantastic experience, from booking the trip to landing back home. First of all, John Almeida in Canada did a stellar job of customizing the trip we wanted and giving us recommendations on the itinerary. Especially when we had to postpone our original trip due to COVID, John was on top of everything.

In addition to the logistics of the trip, Lion World Travel also made sure that we were able to get the necessary COVID tests abroad and arranged all our transportation, so we didn't have to worry about anything.

Once we landed, our guide, George, greeted us with a smile and champagne. From then on, the trip just got better. George was incredibly knowledgeable about all the parks, animals, and we had a blast seeing so many amazing animals in their natural habitat.

If you have the opportunity to go on a safari, take it! It's a magical experience and I am so happy that we used Lion World Travel. John made sure we didn't have to worry about anything except spotting lions and looking for leopards and I would highly recommend them for anyone who wants a stellar safari!

Lynda and I recently returned from South Africa. This was incomparably organized by Lion World, a travel company that well deserves its Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence. We are so grateful to John Almeida, manager, who impeccably crafted our journey. Our adventure began in South Africa where we explored beautiful Cape Town. The accommodation at the Table Bay Hotel was outstanding. Our daily explorations were exhilarating and informative. We learned of the tragedy of Apartheid, the miracle of Mandela, and the hope of reconciliation and rehabilitation of a once torn society. Cape Town and the surrounding area has so much to offer, from great restaurants and shopping to its compelling natural beauty. The view from Table Mountain was breathtaking. Following this exciting sojourn, we enjoyed a couple days in the nearby wine country. Franschhoek is a delightful village, proud of its French heritage. The hotel, of the same name, was delightful and peaceful, following our busy Cape Town tour. Our next adventure involved a short flight to Kapama Game Reserve. We cannot imagine a more magical place on earth. The rainy season had ended, the countryside was lush and green, and we saw so many animals including "The Big Five". We were also introduced to "the ugly five", haha!
Those Pumbaas are really quite cute! Kapama is an experience beyond belief. The reserve is architecturally stunning. The morning and afternoon drives were well organized, informative and exciting. The accommodation, meals and service were beyond our expectations. Then to crown our fantastic travels, we flew to
Victoria Falls where we stayed three luxurious days at the Victoria Falls Hotel. We toured the Falls, a powerful miracle of nature, did some drumming at a local restaurant, and safaried one day in nearby Chobe, Botswana. Lynda and I were told that Africa will change us forever. It did! We would love to go back, when the timing is right for all, and when the world is once again on its feet. It will be!
Thank you so much to Lion World.
Thank you to John Almeida, our captain at the helm.
Thank you to Amanda who looked after us the entire journey.
And a big thank you to all those who kept us comfortable, well fed and safe.

Keep well. Keep Safe

Dear Lynda and Rob, We were delighted to receive the TripAdvisor "Travelers' Choice" award again in 2020 (new name for the Certificate of Excellence) and we have amazing travelers such as yourselves to thank for that! We love when our guests take time to delve into the history and culture of South Africa as much as the exciting safari and wildlife excursions. Your review speaks for itself, with the range of activities and experiences that make Africa so special. perhaps we'll have to get you to return to see more of Botswana next time! Last, but not least by any means, thank you for highlighting that John and Amanda were key people in ensuring the great success of your trip, it is truly appreciated! We planned our Tanzania trip in October 2019. We were scheduled to travel May 2020. Due to Covid our trip was rescheduled to November 2020. Then, due to Covid we rescheduled to March. 2021. Again Covid affected our travel plans. Now we are rescheduled for September 2021.

Throughout this process we have been completely pleased with the cooperation, extra work, and caring from the staff at Lion World Travel. We are working with Pat who is wonderful and easy to work with. Pat has kept us informed along the way, immediately responds to our phone calls and emails. She takes extra steps to arrange travel plans for us.

We highly recommend Lion World Travel. We are pleased that this company has policies that allowed us to change our travel plans without penalty or undue complications. We are so grateful to be working with a company and staff who clearly cares about their customers.

We started this trip through Costco who partners with Lion World Travel for Africa travel.

Some of the questions in this review are not applicable at this time because our travel is in the future, but these fields are required to send this review. I will revise this responses after our travel.

One of my family members contacted Lion World Tours about a 3 person trip to Tanzania. After the sales rep made an itinerary I called her to ask some questions about the lodges and the pricing. I asked her if she had been to all the lodges herself (she hasn't, by the way), and if we could change one of them. She was then shockingly rude to me. She said that having 3 people contact her with thoughts was too confusing and that "she can't work like this, and we need to come together with a plan and only one person can talk to her." She also said that she "wasn't going to spend and more time on this trip until a deposit has been put down." She had been contacted less than a week prior and this my very first call with her. I have NEVER been pushed that hard to put money down. The sales reps need to have more patience. For previous trips I exchanged many emails with other tour companies before we had a final plan - this standard for custom trip this big. The itinerary was also sloppy and had a bizarre mix of luxury and budget lodges, starting with luxury and ending with budget. It was also more expensive than other companies, and they clearly don't send the sales reps to all the lodges so they can't really advise you on the them.

I just got home to the US from a wonderful trip to Tanzania. My goal was to see the big 5 and as many animals in their natural habitat as possible. I booked through Lions World Tours and was not disappointed. The booking agent Cheryl was very professional and even though COVID and a medical issue postponed the trip twice I was glad we finally made it The Serena hotels were wonderful, most of them had pools and the staff was very welcoming and I felt Our driver Harlequin was very knowledgeable about all the animals and went out of his way to accommodate our group. Harlequin was flexible and taught us many Swahili words. We visited Serengeti National park and saw the following animals ( plus many more not listed): Zebras, Elephants, Jaguars, Leopards, hyenas, Hippos, Flamingos, Lions. We even saw the Wildebeest migration ( thousands of them on the horizon). We saw a rhino being herded by the park ranges to a different area of the Serengeti so he would be safe from poachers. The adventures were magnificent. The African people and workers were so glad to see us return to visit their country and were so warm and welcoming. I did not feel at all worried about a COVID exposure. All of the staff wore masks while assisting us. I had the trip of a lifetime and would love to go back to Africa ( especially Serengehti National park) soon. Be aware though that most of the hotels are not airconditioned and they do not have television, but who cares you are not there to watch TV anyway. Experiencing a Lion is eating his kill next to the road with Hyenas and vultures waiting to get their fill was much better than any tv show.

Dear Rose, That is a long list of exceptional highlights and different wildlife you saw in Africa, thank you for sharing your review! It is always exciting to hear what each traveler has seen on their safari, as every trip is special, with unique experiences. You are so right too - nobody wants to watch TV on safari, when the greatest show is right outside. Thank you for the kind words about your driver Harlequin, and for letting us know Cheryl took good care of you during the booking process. Happy travels, Leeann Phayre-Mallo, Lion World Travel

My 11 year old daughter and I took the Discover East Africa trip in August 2021 and had an extraordinary time! It was the most spectacular trip from start to finish. I could not have asked for a better adventure! John Almeida was our agent and kept me informed through every aspect of the trip and help quell any fears of traveling during covid. John and LeAnn were even able to sort out a literally last minute Visa issue working at all hours to help us get the right documents together right before leaving. We were met by our guide Dixon in Kenya who was fabulous! We were in such good hands. He was like the mayor who knew everyone and made sure that we were so well taken care of. We saw every animal you could dream of in Kenya from Leopards and Lions feasting on their kills to a magnificent hot air balloon ride over the Masai Mara. When we crossed over to Tanzania, we were lucky to have Daniel as our driver and guide. We sat patiently waiting and watching a Cheetah stalk and successfully hunt a gazelle for 3 hours and I really think he was just as thrilled as we were. Our accommodations were top notch with everyone going above and beyond in assuring our comfort. We are both vegetarians and everywhere we went, we were given delicious options for our diet. There was no shortage of unbelievable animal sightings and spectacular views throughout the entire 2 weeks! We really feel like we lucked out with the amount of rare animal encounters we had. It truly was the trip of a lifetime and the perfect way to celebrate a 50th birthday. I would recommend this adventure and Lion World Travel to anyone! Simply fabulous!

We found Lion World Traffic thru Costco Travel. I worked with John Almeida for several months last year on a list of where we wanted to go for a 2 week through South Africa in order to see as many animals as possible. John worked up a custom itinerary starting in at the Da Vinci Hotel in Johannesburg and moving on to Sabi Sands Game Reserve (near Kruger National Park), Victoria Falls, Chobe National Park, the Okavango Delta and ending in Cape Town. All of the lodges and hotels we were booked at were top notch and not only happy to see us but eager to make sure we were happy and comfortable. Nottens Game Lodge in Sabi Sands set the bar very high for the rest of the lodges. Not only did we see the Big 5, we also saw many other animals including cheetah, hippos and crocodiles. They made my birthday a special occasion. In fact, I celebrated my birthday for the rest of the trip as the Radisson Blu in Livingstone, Zambia and the Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town (best breakfast buffet I've ever encountered) each had a birthday cake waiting in our room when we checked in. Every time we landed at an airport we had someone from Thompsons Africa, Lion Worlds local partner, to meet us and either connect us with a driver to our next stop or help us with the immigration paperwork and get us to the next plane. And just riding from one location to another was pleasurable as the drivers told us about the area we were driving through. Although Nottens was special as our first game lodge, Chobe Game Lodge in Chobe National Park and Camp Okavango in the Okavango Delta were also wonderful, each highlighting the special environments they were part of. Whether it was the knowledgeable guides, the staff who welcomed us with song and dance, the delicious and plentiful food or the housekeeping staff who kept our rooms pristine, they all made us feel like guests rather than customers. And all of this was possible because of Lion World Travel. I highly recommend working with them to anyone looking to set up a trip to Africa. I can't thank them enough for this once in a lifetime experience!

8 day Tanzania COSTCO adventure. I don't take a lot pictures; I can visit zoos or Instagram for better pics.. I try to absorb as much of the scenery and culture of a country as I can. I love seeing the big 5 in their natural habitat. The hundreds of zebras and wildebeests! Lions and elephants everywhere. The truck canopies permitted a 360 view of the landscape. From observing other tour companies, it seems most groups are 6 or less, as that's what fits into the Toyota Land Cruiser.

There were three passengers in our Land Cruiser, a mother/son combo and me. Our driver Steven, was exceptional. Gave the others all the time they needed for pictures, rest stops, etc. He is a wealth of knowledge about the animals, geography, climate and migrations. And he has the eyes of an eagle!!

I was offered to incredible opportunity to visit a Masai village on the way to our final destination. I truly appreciated the warmth and hospitality of the people and learning from them a few of their traditions and seeing the children in their classroom.

I've traveled a bit and found all three lodges to be of high quality. Food is not much different from US standards and beautifully presented. Our crew ate box lunches to eliminate trips back to the lodges midday. Plenty of food there, too. We were gone from sunrise to sunset. The rooms had no TV, WIFI or clocks which was fine by me. (WIFI was available in the main lobby area, and fast as I get in the rural USA.) I only saw three mosquitos the entire week, but had the malaria preventive pills and took them nonetheless.

The Lion World staff, Jean Kadenhe, checked in with me to make sure I had visa, medical screening and misc. info. There were NO surprises!!

I would go again in a heartbeat!
