If you are visiting the Malay quarter in Cape Town, then go up to the top, and have a beer in the quaint little place that is part of a family home and which serves great curries too. Then precisely at noon the Gun goes off...this was to let the poplace know that it was time to take their midday... More

For a short drive you get to experience a great tradition and here about it's history. Try to get their at 11.45am to get the talk from the guy who fires the gun. He said he's been doing this for 15 years and has never been alone when firing the gun - visitors always turn up, come rain or shine!... More

We had attempted to come to this location in 2014 on our visit however chose the "wrong day". This time we were a bit more organised. Again lovely views over Cape Town Waterfront and also back to Table Mountain and Signal Hill. Also views over Bokapp and the city itself. Enjoyed walking around the "garrison". Interesting explaination given about firing... More

We attended an event at the Noon Gun during the Geocaching MEGA in Cape Town. I haven't been here in probably 15 years. It's actually a great attraction with historic value, beautiful views and best of all, it's free. Really enjoyed getting more info about the custom and what happens from the soldier on duty. Worth the visit.

Such a great tradition! We went with a group of people and had such a wonderful time. The canons are in wonderful shape and you would never really know they are as old as they are. How wonderful to keep a tradition going for so long

We went up to visit Signal Hill and were lucky to get there about 11:45, in time to see the gun be fired. Besides the beautiful view, you learn about the history of the gun and it's firing. Plus a fun little anecdote is told about the timing of the gun, and the clock tower in town. You have to... More

Small protected area with the cannons and daily noon cannon salute is accessible via car or on foot. The hike is delightful and you can just follow the road leading to the place admiring the breathtaking views of Cape Town on your way . It is open to the public morning till afternoon . You enter for free and visit... More

The gun goes off promptly at noon and made us jump the first couple of times. Interesting tradition!
