Museum is in the old 18th century urban Cape Dutch architecture house that precedes even Bo Kaap itself. It showcases the Muslim Cape Town culture. It is informative and tourists particularly interested in Muslim culture may enjoy it. You probably need a guide to get more out of this visit. If you have limited time just visit the Bo Kaap... Very small museum. Photo's on display. Film to watch and some odd few pots etc. without any information. We didn't stay long but walked around the area and looked at the painted houses.

The Muslim residents of Cape Town have a rich history and seek to preserve their culture. This small museum is inexpensive (R20 for adults, R10 for kids). The self guided tour begins with a 20 minute film. The museum has about 3 rooms packed with artifacts and photographs. It's a short tour but well worth the $1.25 admission price to... More

Such a small museum, but bursting with so much information about the people of the Bo Kaap. Best enjoyed with a guide, as there is so much info to share.

Popped in here, mainly to get some background on the colourful houses and the area generally. A 20 min film is shown and it provides some useful information. A few exhibits but most of what I Iearnt came from talking with the lady in charge. No where could I find the significance of the colourful houses. I've been to many... More

I really enjoyed my visit here to learn about the history and people of Bo Kaap. I also loved walking in the area to see the colorful homes.

We did a museum day and this was on our list for the day. We paid the R20 admission and watched the video, this was the most interesting part of the exhibit. There was one room with 'artefacts' and some of these were quite modern toys and pieces. Then another room with some pots and pans, and then upstairs which... More

The Bo-Kaap museum is small but very interesting and it's definitely worth the 20R admission. Don't be put off by the fact the museum is in a house or by the fact the exhibition only occupies two rooms, it's a great way to learn about the Muslim community in Cape Town.
