Stallholders come from all over Africa so the crafts you find here represent different cultures and countries. Having said that, I have seen this stuff in other countries in Africa and much of it is mass produced. Some things, like wooden masks, look more genuine...More

I only came here since it was the starting point for our walking tour. There are some stalls selling souvenirs so you can find something nice to buy. Other than that, wouldn't really go out of my way to come here.

The stalls on Greenmarket square offer a wide variety of goods. Snooping through the stalls reveals numerous treasures, but what is interesting is that the store owners are majority foreign nationals.

The market is one of the main attractions of Cape Town, it is not so wonderful but interesting to visit for a while, you will find many decorations and African objects. Always negotiate the price because it never costs what they initially say. You should...More

I had not visited Greenmarket Square for years but we spent a night with our friends in their AirB&B last Monday and walked down the impressive Avenue and St George's Street and had lunch in Greenmarket Square. The stalls appeared to be less numerous. This...More

It’s pretty kitschy, loads of vendors. They can be a little aggressive. But they do take no for an answer. Many stalls claim to have made the item, but then you go to another stall and it’s the same fabric, the same carving, even the...More

Typical tourist tat with pseudo-African products and a host of fake t-shirts and football shirts. Disappointing

This place is where you can spend your money and get quality stuff souvenirs for a good price. Also a good place to talk to locals and get some history. Oh the most important part free unless you spend. LOL

Officially, 9am-5pm, but they'll sell earlier if you're there with money and they'll start closing up at 4 if it's a slow day.

9 to 5 according to their website. Be cautious and watchful in this area. We witnessed a necklace snatching and credit card theft just feet from the market perimeter. Once inside the perimeter security is tight.
