Very clean, quick service, great views, but check wind though as we had to wait couple days to use, otherwise its a steep hike up when not running

the ride was comfortable especially for someone with a fear of heights. No rush once up on the mountain so take as many photos as you want (the sites are beautiful). Worth the time in line (was not too long for us but be advised that the cable car can be shut down due to weather conditions so make sure if you want to go that you have alternate times to be there)

Very professionally run and fantastic views. Not as adventurous as hiking up it, but there are plenty of beautiful views at the top for a relaxed version of the mountain. There's a great vibe among the visitors, too. No regrets, and very reasonably priced. I don't know if we were lucky, but there was almost no queue, despite being a beautiful day around the holidays.

I booked a "skip the line" ticket for 11am, but when I arrived there a very apologetic staff member told me that the cable cars weren't running because of the wind. She said I could either cancel or keep checking the website to see if it was running later in the day. By mid afternoon it was running again. My fast track ticket was honoured and I was on the next cable car heading up. Riding to the top of Table Mountain is quite exhilarating. The mountain top is very beautiful with its marked trains and indigenous fynbos. The views are stunning. I can't believe I waited so long to go up despite visiting Cape Town many, many times.

You pay a lot just to go on a cable ride for 30 seconds. But up there it was very beautiful with good views and good food. The staff was also very friendly.

Super efficient and organised. The cable car was clean and well run.
The views are amazing.
Carl the cable car attendant was brilliant , he knew I was afraid of heights and told me a funny story the whole journey to distract me.
You can't come to CT and not go up table mountain

We prepaid our tickets but we still had to queue for one and a half hours. We had to queue for about 20mins to get down. When we came down the queue appeared to have doubled and they had stopped selling tickets for the day. At the top there were plenty of info boards. The views are amazing and the trails laid out very well. On the day we went there was some mist that kept coming across the summit which made it very atmospheric. The cable car itself had a revolving floor which meant everyone had a good view. Take a lightweight jacket as it can be very cold at the top if the mist rolls in.

I chose the wrong day to visit. The morning of New Year's Eve. It seemed like every tourist in Cape Town was there. The red hop on/hop off bus was a very convenient way to get to Table Mountain. We had to wait for over 2 hours standing in the hot sun before finally getting the cable car to the top. After a bit of a walk around and taking photos I joined another queue to get the cable car back. The queue was so long and it was so hot that a staff member was handing out blue umbrellas which we returned once near the cable car. I would have liked to have been there at another time of the year.

Anyone been to the cable car recently? How busy is it? Thinking whether to purchase the skip the queue ticket

Muchas apologies for only replying now. I only got home last night after 217 days away to Antarctica. Re the Cableway, even if there is a queue the cable cars take quite a lot of people so waiting time is usually not much. However, be aware of wind forecasts, and it often blows on the mountain when down in the city it is calm. While I was away my family and friends went up to view the disas and as the wind had come up they could not take the car down and had to hike instead which is NOT easy on the legs.
Hi,can l buy the ticket today in advance like for 19 September 2020

I would actually advise you to buy it in advance to avoid the queue...
However, in advance could be now but, it can also be a few hours before actually going. We did the latter just a few hours before, through our hotel concierge. We wanted to ensure that we could go up...
As soon as there is wind or other unfavourable weather conditions the cablecar doesn't work.
I have met many people who have been in Capetown for a few days but couldn't go up due to weather.

can I confirm please - If I book tickets for table mountain on my mobile phone do I need to get a print out of the actual ticket or does an e-ticket on the mobile phone work. Reason for asking is that I would like to decide on the day (clear weather hopefully) and being a tourist won't have an easy way to print things off. Thanks for any advise

O horário é apenas para a subida! A permanência na Table Mountain você decide. Creio que 3 horas é suficiente!

I like to know how long the queue is now that there is a special on for the month of October? How long do you wait? Does it make a difference if u buy your tickets online? Do u then still need to stand in the queue?

There is a definite advantage to buying tickets before you go. If you buy tickets there, you have to stand in one line, then get to the other line.
PRO TIP- which ever way you do it, get there a bit before they open. the line fills fast and can get very long.

I am coming to cape town in 2 weeks and was planning to buy aerial cableway tickets at the ticket office, rather than online, did you notice if there were any long queues at the office?

Yes there were queues at the ticket office. Better buy online.

Is the cableway closed every year at the same time frame?
How long is it closed?
Thank you for your time :-)

We were so lucky to get on it on the last day as we were told 4 weeks depending on how long it takes them to maintain everything. Also the weather can be a burden with mist and fog.
