Take a drive through

At very least take a drive through this colorful area. The colors are vibrant and bold in this Muslim neighborhood.

This is a really cute little section of Cape Town. We parked at the top of the hill and took a nice stroll through town to look at the colorful buildings. We stopped at a corner store for some samosas to snack on, and went to the amazing spice store to do some shopping. This is not a huge area,... More

We drove into the area without any prior planning. It was very unique and definitely worth visiting. We have visited Cape town at least 10 times before but never ventured into these streets. How naive we can be! I will definitely want to go back on a tour, maybe a walking tour as then you have the time to take... More

No need to do this on a tour as quite easy to get to & park if have own transport. An amazing array of colours to the bhbhouses which are all really well cared for so a shame that some visitors whilst we were there thought it was OK to clamber over walls steps etc. Good way to spend a... More

Driving or walking through the streets of the Bo-Kaap leaves you feeling so happy. It is a place of beauty, colour, spices and culture. Do not miss Atlas spice shop. I never lea ve there without bags of fantastic spices and recipes. The staff are just the most friendly you will find.

I'm glad we were able to take a walk through this old Malay Quarter neighborhood. The colorful, British-style houses were interesting, and school kids in their uniforms were returning home when we visited. It was nice to see the outdoors interaction among neighbors as well.

We saw Bo-Kaap from the safety of a taxi. We were advised that it isn't that safe a place. I don't know if this is true and may be wrong? It is a beautiful place however and well worth a look at.

We didn't just take a tour of Bo-Kaap; we stayed there for 5 nights at the Upperbloem Guesthouse (the best views in CPT). We walked from the Upperbloem to the V&A Waterfront area multiple time, at various times of the day; including in the evening. The local Biesmiellah restaurant on the corner of Wale & Penzwas a great place for... More

The color of each houses along this street are different and bright. A unique and pretty sight, otherwise it is a quiet street when I visit in the afternoon.

The old Malay Quarter of Cape Town is uniquely beautiful with its brightly coloured houses, some now converted into little caf'es, restaurants, Boutique Hotels and B&B's. Evidence of moslem culture in Cape Town, with its mint green mosque, which was not destroyed or moved by the apartheid regime, like District 6 was. Bo-Kaap remains close to all Capetonians hearts. It... More
