The farm is beautiful and the tour to know about the ostrich is very good. One gets to feed the ostrich, stand on ostrich eggs, sit on an ostrich (if not too heavy!!!) and learn about ostrich products

Close up view and information on ostriches an farming. Friendly guide. Riding on ostriches was last part and to be stopped. Very disrespectful to animals. Thankfully nobody of my group took the ride! Nice lunch. Friendly staff!

Thank you for your review ! I am pleased to know you enjoyed the lunch and found the staff to be friendly and professional. We only allow those people who weigh less than 60kg the chance to have a short quick ride. Adult ostriches weigh about a 150kg and are extremely strong animals - I do though appreciate your feedback... More

There are a couple of ostrich show farms that can be visited in Oudtshoorn. I have visited a couple of them and they all do a great job, telling you things about the ostrich and the ostrich industry. They offer a guided tour and and a ostrich race. In total you will spend between one and two hours. After the... More

The ostrich farm was the highlight of my tour. All good things happened here. We met and interacted with our farm guide Stephan. Standing on the eggs, Feeding the ostriches, Buying the original ostrich skin wallet and card purse, Riding the Ostrich was the highlight of my entire tour of SA. Enjoyed every bit including the food in their attached restaurant where had chance to also taste ostrich meet. My wife sat on the back of an ostrich while my daughter rode on the ostrich which runs quite fast and got a certificate from them.

Visited on a very cold day. Guide met us in car park to helpfully say that a tour was starting in 5 minutes. The time of the tour is only about an hour if you include a ride on a bird! It's a good, informative tour with a bit of fun thrown in as well. Part of the tour is... More

Too commercialized , the only actual interesting bit was the dwarf ostrich, your pushed through with the same speel , jokes and better off going to a working ostrich farm , where you probably wont get as close but have a better experience, wasnt even breeding season so no chicks to cuddle. Naff don't bother if not in summer. Didn't... More

Thank you for your review ! Seeing the chicks is a wonderful experience - I agree - but as you mentioned ostriches do not lay eggs the whole year round like chickens do - we have recorded footage of chicks hatching for visitors who visit us during the few months of the year when we have no chicks to show.... The first thing to know is that riding an ostrich is nothing like riding a horse. But a quick side-by-side comparison, horse vs. ostrich, will show you why they are different. But it's was sounds crazy and i would like to came againt

Thank you for your review ! You are right in saying that riding a ostrich is not like riding a horse at all. Ostriches are strong animals that can weigh up to 180Kg. The ride is a short and fast experience and very different to riding a horse. Thank you for your visit and feedback. More
