- GOLF19 contributionsMust visitAmazing sanctuary, friendly staff and wide assortment of animals to look at. One of the few places that you can get up close and personal with the animals in our case the teenager cheetahs! The guides were very knowledgeable and had great respect for the animals in the park. The only reason that I am not giving a 5 would be that they have commercialised the photo taking in the close encounters, which I am okay with as the funds go back into supporting of the park. But if you are going to charge for photos please can you get a decent camera! Overall amazing place and would def recommend that you visit!Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten October 4, 2023
- Teresa RCape Town, South Africa75 contributionsFun filled day with wild animalsWhat a great place, we had the nicest guide named Leo, who was very knowledgeable and very pleasant, the wildlife ranch is amazing, clean and the animals all look very content and well kept. The interaction with the birds is fun and once you bring out the nectar be sure to get sat on. The whole day was an amazing experience and we'll worth it.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten October 10, 2023
- ALIDA12 contributionsAmazingIt is a beautiful garden where saving animals is paramount. We had a nice tour. And afterwards we had a cheetah encounter. We opted for the cubs. Three 11 month old cubs. Wow what a wonderful experience. The ranch and the staff are really great.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten October 13, 2023
- Missshcroft2 contributionsCroc Cage dive a must!It is a must stop attraction when you visit Oudtshoorn. The best activity for me was doing the crocodile cage dive, it is the best experience ever and you get really close and personal with the Nile Crocodiles. A big thank you to Suanne who assisted us with the croc cage dive, she was very informative and kept us safe while we were inside the cage with the crocs. She did an excellent job and also thanks to the photographer Ockert.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten October 19, 2023
- Mudeford123Christchurch, United Kingdom333 contributionsInteresting visitVisiting this park is by guided tour only which is fine. There are plenty of animals to see although viewing of the big cats can be slightly restricted if they are near the walkway. Leo was our guide and he was very knowledgeable. He gave us enough time to take photographs. We were the last tour of the day so it was a small group. Worth a visit if you are in the area.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten October 23, 2023
- Resort637941378551 contributionAmazing experienceWe had an amazing last minute experience here with the cheetahs because we had some time to spare before going to our next stay. It´s not like your usual zoo because of the tour and all the information you get. Petting of the cheetahs was fantastic! Would recomment!Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten October 26, 2023
- mslymflToronto, Canada48 contributionsnever dreamed that i'd get to pet cheetahs in my lifetime!!Wow! Never dreamed that i'd get to pet cheetahs in my lifetime. I know some will say that’s not right to keep animals like this, and that they should be out in the wild where they belong, but the way the world’s going, the habitats for these (and many other) incredible animals, especially the big cats, are disappearing rapidly. Hopefully not, but these types of sanctuaries may soon be the only places to see animals like this at all. The ranch is obviously very concerned with animal welfare, and this is evidenced in how happy, healthy, and safe all their animals were. Anyway, it was an incredible experience, and made me look into additional ways i can help to preserve and safeguard these beautiful cats for future generations. The staff were very good – knowledgeable, safety-conscious, and obviously loved the animals and their jobs! The tour of the other paddocks was very good too: the african crocodiles, the (almost extinct) pygmy hippo, the albino porcupine, the vultures . . . very enjoyable day, and so glad we added this stop to our route!Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten November 1, 2023
- Dona SPorirua, New Zealand852 contributionsA very enjoyable experienceWe visited on impulse and were just in time to join a walking tour. Our guide, Darren, was great - he was knowledgeable and interesting, and kept us entertained while giving us relevant information about the animals we were looking at. We both thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend it. They are doing a wonderful job of conservation with no funding other than what is earned through visitors and donations.Visited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten November 12, 2023

We were casually admiring the flamboyance of flamingos for their beauty when the wading bird handler asked us if we wanted a souvenir feather from the Phoenicopteridae family. Without waiting for our answer he plunged into the holding, wading into the flamingos and scattering them out of the water in all directions, leaving a handful of feathers on the ground, one of which he proudly presented to us as our memento of Oudtshoorn. This was a lovely day. We had the best tour guide Ed who knew about all the animals in detail. He didn't just deliver a boring narration about the animals but did it in such a way that made us laugh and enjoy the tour. Even the kids were engaged the whole time. We enjoyed the animal encounters and the meal afterwards was well presented and absolutely delicious. During our time there we could see the love and care that the staff have for the animals. They spoke of many dedicated hours that they put into making sure that they were safe and comfortable. Well done to all at Cango Wildlife Ranch. We will definitely be back again.

We went for our first outing after “lockdown” and was not disappointed. We’ve visited many times in the past 14 years and the quality of service has never declined - which is saying something. They also have a lot of COVID-19 safety measures in place, so you can just enjoy and at times even forget about the whole disaster. Thanks for an awesome visit!!! We’ll definitely go again.

The adventure park costs 180rand per adult to enter and the guided tour is one hour long. They give tons of information about the animals and you can tell they are all so passionate about it. There are also animal adventures you can take for 250 more. There is a cage dive with crocodiles, an encounter with cheetahs, and a few more options. Great value, must see

Wow, what an experience. Whether you and you your family love animals or not, this is DEFINITLY the place to visit. The whole experience was awesome from the communication about our prebooking to the tour with Ronaldo to the interaction with the animals and the croc cage dive. I booked the fast pass online, we were there before they opened and upon our checking in they advised that the fast pass is not needed anymore because we were so early, so they changed it to more animal encounters for us. We went back to repeat some of the activities. All the staff were sooooo friendly and helpful. Where ever you were there was a friendly face keen to help and always asking if you need assistance. When you visit it is advisable to set aside the whole day to ensure maximum experience. This is really an awesome experience for young and old. The facility is very clean and sanitized throughout the day. The animals are well looked after and the camps are clean. All activities are very well organized. We will definitely be back for more

We went through to Oudtshoorn for the day and chose to spend it at the Cango Wildlife Ranch.
All was good the tour and the tour guide, Ronaldo was very good. He was very informative and well presented.
The food at the Tortoise restaurant was rather disappointing considering the different types of people from all over the world you get to host. As someone who works in hospitality in a 5 star hotel i was expecting a little more from the restaurant. The food was okay not that good and not well presented. Next time we will definitely be eating off site :)

Lovely place to visit, would recommend to anyone . Nice staff and loads of animals to view. All of which seem to be kept in excellent condition. Restaurant clean with good selection of food and drink.
We tried the cheetah encounter which was just wonderful...others in our party tried the Crocodile cage. Just a small point , if you are going to have an encounter, its cheaper to pay when you arrive and not wait until you are inside however prices are very reasonable .
It also can get very hot at Oudtshoon , so bring hats espically for younger members of family.

This place was absolutely amazing and I’d honestly go back tomorrow and the day after that and that! I loved every moment of this experience, from seeing all the big cats to the pigmy hippos and Nile crocs. I loved the cheetah experience and it’s something I’ll remember forever. Our guide Renaldo was extremely educational, enthusiastic and he made the tour entertaining and enjoyable. Tamryn, the American vet and the big cat curator (we didn’t get their names) we’re all super friendly and willing to answer any questions we had. They also seemed to really love their jobs and the animals they care for and it was inspiring and motivating to see. They made the overall experience even better, just by loving their jobs. We arrived at 11 a.m. and only left at 5 p.m. , that shows how much we loved it and enjoyed seeing and meeting all the wonderful animals. All in all I’d rate the Cango Wildlife Ranch 10/10 and I’ll definitely be back in the future and recommend it to anyone and everyone. Loved loved loved!

First of all, we would like to thank Carmen Ellis for making our VIP Tour at the Cango Wildlife Ranch possible. Without her cooperation, we would not have had the day we had.
Second, our greatest appreciation to each member of the staff that assisted us on the day. We truly had an amazing day and it would not have been possible without each of the staff. From the lady at the entrance to the tour guide to the caregivers to the restaurant staff, and all the other members involved.
With the help of each and every one of the staff, we were able to do everything we had set out to do! A special thank you to the staff who took the time out of their schedule to help look after the children so that we could all enjoy the encounters. We really do appreciate it and will definitely never forget it.
We feel truly blessed to have been able to gain all this knowledge on how the Ranch is run as well as all the behind-the-scenes information. Understanding what goes into the running of an operation such as this, makes us only more appreciative of the work you guys do! The invaluable lessons learned will be with us for the rest of our lives and as for my daughter, the experience has only pushed her to work harder in becoming a veterinarian! For that, we would like to offer a special thank you to the Zoological Manager, Craig Gouws, who, through his knowledge and kind-demeanor, have left a lasting impression on her!
Each and every member of our group had a great time and will be speaking of this experience at many family gatherings to come. Definitely one of the best zoos that I have visited in my lifetime!!!
Keep up the great work and hopefully, we will be able to come to visit again in the near future.

As we had time to spare before checking into our lodge we decided to visit the Cango Wildlife Ranch. We actually walked in with a little smile at the - at first glance - a bit „kitschig“ look of the place. But the tour with Ronaldo, our guide, convinced us of the concept behind this place: awareness, protection and rehabilitation (where possible). His passionate and at the same time humorous accounts about the animals in this „ranch“ were very convincing and authentic. Well done, Ronaldo. We had booked an encounter with cheetahs - here too, the staff (especially Heinz) made this an unforgettable experience.

Hi. I would like to cage dive with the crocodiles in October 2022. What are the fees per person for a cage dive?
Written April 28, 2022
I have found an old photo of myself with cub white tiger on my lap taken at your ranch years ago. I was part f a group of Motoring Editors who visited the ranch while on a car launch. I was wondering whether the white cub has grown up and whether it is still with you. If I remember correctly it was an Indian Tiger, but I may be wrong. Your response would be appreciated. Tks Henrie Geyser, Hout Bay.
Written October 10, 2019
Good day Henrie,
Thank you so much for your message. It is great to connect with an old friend!
So we actually have two white Indian tigers that were born here and my, have they grown! Their names are Nevada and Taji. Nevada is a snow white tiger, so his stripes are nearly invisible and Taji has contrasting black stripes. We can send their photos to you via e-mail if you'd like?
We do not do tiger encounters anymore, but we hope you come and visit to see your old buddy soon, you'd be surprised at how big they got in the meantime!
Kind Regards

We'll be visiting 18th April, it wouldn't be for a whole day as we have to move on around midday so maybe a morning.. are we likely to be ok to just turn up that morning and then decide if we want to add the cheetah and cheetah cub experience on at the time, or is it necessary to book ahead?

Is this a doable day trip from Cape Town?
Written December 27, 2016
Good morning!
Oudtshoorn is about 450km from Cape Town, so a day trip might be a bit tight, as we also want you to be able to spend enough time here to ensure a well-rounded visit. Our beautiful town does however, offer lots of activities and fantastic accommodation options so an overnight will be well worth the trip!
