As a family we visit this venue often because it is clean, safe and open after normal business hours in somer. There are very few places where you may take your own food and have a good old fashion picnic. Here you can bring your blanket and food and relax in the beauty of nature. It is affordable and also... Didn't stay long as it was soooo hot but really interesting to see the rocks. Lovely drive up here along winding roads.

dirt track leads up to the Paarls. Last bit is a very steep climb up the huge granit rock called the Paarl. Two different paarls to climb but the highest has the best 360 view

Dominating the skyline above Paarl the highest rock here is Paarl Rock a massive granite outcrop and the world's second largest (after Uluru in Australia). At over 500 million years old it is quite spectacular. The nature reserve has a small entrance charge and at the entrance kiosk you can also buy a guide leaflet which gives the history and... More

I've been coming to Paarl for more than 30 yrs but have never visited the Reserve! We took a drive there late Sun afternoon to check out the 3 dams for fishing. What beauty and the views are breathtaking. A fishing licence from the Post Office is required to fish in general but another licence must be bought from Drakenstein... More

This reserve provides one with enough entertainment for a day or an hour! Great hiking trails, waterfalls, and the main attraction are the enormous granite rocks that are accessable with visitor-friendly walkways making it easy and safe to reach the top! We have also seen rock-climbers on the steep rock face but preferred the alternative route! Be careful on very... More

Amazing rock formations and easy but spectacular walking near and to the summits. The access roads are in pretty poor states of repair and the signage is sorely lacking. No worthwhile information boards either. However, the area is really spectacular and provides great views of Paarl and its surrounds.

If you want the best view of Paarl and the surronding areas, and also the Table mountain. This is the place to be.

I was raised in Paarl so of course I am bias. Visited Paarl mountain after living overseas for 30 years. The drive up Jan Philips is still narrow but far better condition now. The views over the valley from the top is breathtaking- certainly recommend.
