Our first visit to Rust en Vrede estate and certainly won't be our last. This is one of the oldest estates in the area and the setting is beautiful. We sat at an outside table, surrounded by beautiful buildings, set in manicured gardens, looking out over vine covered hills. Rather than a tasting, we decided to try the "Winemakers Lunch" which was superb. I had the Chalmar sirloin, fries & salad which comes with a glass of the Estate Red. My wife had the salmon & vegetables that was accompanied by a glass of Donkiesbaai Steen. Both meals were beautifully cooked, very substantial and well presented but the star for me was the ReV Estate (my primary reason for visiting) which was superb. Highly recommend both the venue and the wine.

A wonderful place to sample the wines - red- and one of my favourite vineyards. A great place to enjoy wine and lunch under the trees in this idyllic setting!! Lunch was only a choice of 3 dishes but was paired with wine. In this case, less choice was more and everything was excellent quality.

Despite the bad weather we thoroughly enjoyed the wine tasting experience at Rust and Vrede. They had a lovely fire place inside the tasting room area to set the ambiance. The waiter who assisted us was very knowledgeable and friendly, and had a lot of passion for the wines. It was a very educational tasting experience and the estate is beautiful. Would highly recommend their lunch which is paired with a glass of wine.
