Nice walk

Nice to walk along the beach & the 45 mins ferry ride is good from Olhao, and reasonably priced compared to the private taxis.

The Ria Formosa Natural Park is one of the most beautiful natural resources in the Algarve, both for its variety of habitats and for its unique location. Recently voted as a 7 of the Natural Wonders of Portugal, it is one of the three protected areas that you should definitely visit on your holiday in the Algarve. It is a... More

A lovely quiet reserve with nice people who are patient and can speak good English. Great views of the wild fowl and waders from the hides. Saw Waxwings ,Kentish Plover and numerous others with an added bonus of seeing a Chameleon up close

We birded with Georg Shreier who can help you fully enjoy birdwatching the Algarve. in September this year. It was beautiful, he was skilled, and we had a great time. I wish that TA has a birdwatching thread - but they don't, so here I am. I also wish that I had had time to explore Olhao and its market... More

absolutely love this place, it is the most natural beautiful spot, you can lose yourself in time wandering around this nature reserve, every time I go I see new things, there are so many birds and other creatures to see and plants. There is information all over the place and a centre telling of the history etc . We saw... More

Good experience of wild birds various breeds can be seen on a walk around the Natural Park. The walkways are not clearly defined but you can easily work you way round. Good to see the salt formation, only downside there can be a bit of a smell, but do not let that put you off.

We took a boat trip to go round the Formosa and had a great time. We did lots of walking and took a picnic with plenty to drink! It was a scenic day and we did see some wildlife. There were plenty of workers earning their crust in the mudflats so that we could have fresh fish at night. A... More

I have to say that we might not have chosen the best time to see this park. We went in August and first of all it was a lot of walk in the direct sun without seeing anything. When we reached the different spots of interest, we saw a few small birds quite far away and nothing worth all the... More

First of all we weren't sure we'd reached the entrance as it isn't really well signposted but there is an office as you drive in and a man was standing outside waiting to give us some information. We paid 2.60 euro each to go in, so very cheap with free parking undercover. It has a barrier so you can't just... More

You have a 4-5km walk around the park. You can see birds leaving in the morning, arriving in the morning. Nice place to visit.
