The area
Neighbourhood: San Nicolás
Immersed in the sound of honking horns and the footsteps of busy office workers, the Microcentro area of San Nicolás is where visitors will encounter the true hustle and bustle of Buenos Aires, walking down streets lined with office buildings and banks. The financial district is well-known for its vibrant atmosphere and unstoppable rhythm during office hours. After dark, the hubbub and migrates to Corrientes Ave., where theatre lovers might start their evening at a play and end it in one of the many traditional pizzerias nearby. Visit this beautiful Synagogue and get a feel of its history with the attached museum. It usually has some sort of art exhibition as well. The Synagogue is breathtaking and very well preserved. It is still in use. Definitely a must if visiting Jewish Buenos Aires.
Be prepared for tight security. But that's ok. It feels much safer that way!

The synagogue is beautiful and the museum is interesting. We saw beautiful Judiaca and lovely art pieces. Some of the signage has been translated to English but not all so I wish I had planned ahead and secured a time with a guide. We went without planning so we just looked around on our own. The receptionist answered some questions but I would have liked to learn more.

The temple is amazing with gorgeous stained glass windows and the feeling of years of history. There is an attached museum which has about 3-4 rooms of interesting artifacts and antiques. The signs are in Spanish but there are English translations in all of the rooms. Doesn't take long to get through it but really worthwhile for anyone interested in Jewish life in BA.

Stunningly beautiful synagogue which is the oldest in Argentina. Built in the 19th century. This is both a functional synagogue and a museum which chronicles Jewish life. Security is tight (remember the bombings a number of years ago. A must visit and a surprise for me. Very friendly guides available.

Beautiful place! To learn and live Judaism in Argentina. I am very excited to see non-Jewish people, interested in our religion!
