Neighbourhood: Recoleta
Characterised by the French-style mansions which are the legacy of its aristocratic past, Recoleta is the true “Paris of the South.” Walking around this neighbourhood is an experience like no other in Buenos Aires: its streets are lined with elegant apartment buildings, exclusive boutiques, and former mansions turned into high-end hotels and embassies, which exude an alluring air of sophistication and class. You'll also find a rich cultural scene centred on the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Library, and the Recoleta Cultural Center; as well as some great shopping spots, like the Buenos Aires Design Mall with an artists' fair set up in Plaza Francia every weekend.

Fun evening listening to jazz.
Fun evening listening to jazz. There is a cute resident cat welcoming you at the door. Small store with intimate jazz stage in the back. We did not order food but had some dessert and drinks. Good quality jazz with much interaction between the players and the audience. Ticket prices are very affordable and taxi easy to grab after the show. Recommend!

Bossa nova and Beatles all night long
Notorious is a Brazilian/world music venue posing as a record store in the heart of Buenos Aires (Santa Fe and Callao). We bought tickets in the afternoon and returned at nine for bossa nova, a re-creation of the album by Vinucius de Moraes, “La Fusa,” originally produced by Victor, the club’s owner. Dinner was satisfying (exceeding the quality you would normally find in US jazz venues). I think we were the only Americans in the place. Our waiters were muy amabile, and the musicians connected with the audience in the intimate space. After the show Victor introduced us to singer Josi Dias. Then we found out about the 12:30 show, a band called Nube 9, founded by eminent Beatles scholar Fernando Blanco and his ace guitarist partner Lucrecia López Sanz. Two and a half hours later we and the Argentine audience were shutting the place down singing “Hey Jude.” Best club experience we have had in the past 20 years.

Fun night with disappointing finish
In summary, we enjoyed the (first) band, enjoyed the food, thought the cost was ok, but overall was disappointed when we basically had to leave before the next band (!!!). My advice: go there if you enjoy good music, but don't be surprised if things change once you get there!

I found Notorious online, and tried to book, but the booking failed - so as they're only about 20 minutes walk from our hotel, we walked there about 8pm and booked. We got a great table and elected the A$ 990 dinner deal. Our spanish is terrible but we fumbled our way through a decent starter and main, and a nice glass of wine each. The band was great fun (was very very good), although I thought the set was a little short (only about an hour total) - but then again, I didn't realise there was another band to play (!!!). So when the band finished at 11-ish, and our coffee & desert arrived (they screwed up my wife's choice), the second band started to set up. I thought "great, that makes more sense, given the first band felt a little short". But then the manager came up and offered me a 2-for-1 "deal" for the second band, ie pay again to see the next band. That was surprising, considering no one had thought to mention it when we first booked. So pretty disappointing considering we had no idea there were two sets and they would be separately charged.

And I was charged for a glass of wine that they said was part of the dinner deal - but wasn't worth arguing about - by then I just wanted to get out of there. Won't go back unfortunately.

Not a venue for a serious jazz fan
We were staying at a nearby hotel so stopped in for a show featuring Miguel Angel Tallarita and La Con Todo Band. It is a strange venue in the back of a record store. The service was slow and we had been warned that the food is mediocre so we ate elsewhere and just went for drinks and the show. The quality of the music was average and it was more like "lite jazz" variety show. The performance was entertaining but NOT for a serious jazz fan. Would not recommend. If you want to hear great jazz, I would highly recommend the BeBop Club instead.

good jazz bad service
We literally went through hell and back in order to get a reervation in this place. They are so unorganized, we even tried website, getting our hotel to book this and we had to run around for 48 hours until we finally was able to secure a seat. Even though music was good but left a very bad taste and experience.

Nice Place...
If you like Jazz, Notorious is definitely your club in BA. They offer fantastic shows and pretty decent food. This time we saw Saxopatas... Big band, great sound. As per the food, we ordered a Risotto and Pork Ribs, 2 bottles of wines and ended up paying ARS 1000 / USD 25 per person. In addition we pre paid ARS 330 / USD 8 per ticket to attend the event. Notorious offers a wide variety of serious Jazz Bands!. Enjoy!.
