Neighbourhood: San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.

One of those surprise area one often find when wondering about sections of Buenos Aires. The Galeria solar de France, is one such Indentation of the Main Street, being Defensa. It is a great little location to seek out if antiques, custom made shoes, jewellery et.al are tour interest. Their was one shop Cuencos Ing on your Right that has gorgeous crafted items with an Asian theme. The main entrance is adorned with greenery and above you sees colourful inflated umbrellas that serve as a shade from the Sun.

This little shopping mall is very pretty. It has these lovely cobbled streets with an eclectic mix of shops, some with lovely local crafts. Worth a visit if you're in this lovely neighbourhood.

Galeria El Solar de French is a mall of small, boutique shopping within walking distance to the central food market. Well maintained with beautiful flowers/plants and decorated with colorful umbrellas overhead, it offers a shady stroll through some lovely higher-end shops. The shopping isn't all that great, but the experience, the window shopping and the umbrellas overhead make this a definite place to stop, even if for a short while.

A fabulous little mall named after the architect/builder who was called French, and has nothing to do with the country

I love visiting the Solar, it is a very delicate place (for its simple but colorful decoration) and where you will find everything from antiques to designer shoes at affordable prices. It is always full of tourists & locals, who like me, love the charm of the place.
It is located in the historic center, in front of the beautiful Plaza Dorrego and despite of being a historic place in itself it is very fun and also offers beautiful varieties of flowers in the gallery. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Quiet and well kept passage, we did not enter the shops but the windows were quite fun to look at and seemed to be reasonably priced. Worth a 10mn detour
