Stopped in looking for a couple bottles of wine to enjoy for the evening. The owner was extremely knowledgeable with his wine selection and steered me to two bottles that fit my needs. They were both spot on and very good, and the price was reasonable. A plus was the owner spoke very good English, which helped as my Spanish... More

Excellent place, not only to find the best selection of Argentine wine, but also to learn a lot about Argentina's wine culture. Juan, its owner, is knowledgeable and will help you find the perfect wine for every occasion.

Very nice shop, sophisticated, locked doors (can't blame them), the guy selling has to open the door for us, but once inside, small store but wide arrays of wine, Malbec wines if you may, from the cheapest to the most expensive one is on display. He was very knowledgeable about what they're selling, spoke English too, as he lived in... More

The best wine shop in the capital, with the finest chocolates, too! Nothing is too much trouble for the English-speaking family who own this little jewel, with considered recommendations and friendly advice. Thank you for everything!

The owner guided us to some great wines. We researched them when we got home and discovered the pricing was very reasonable. We will definitely count on Juan when we are next in Buenos Aires.

We were in town for work and met with Juan to pick up some great Vino a couple of times this year. He has great recommendations and is easy to work with, can't wait to try all of the bottles I'm bringing home - Thanks Juan!

Just across from the large market, this little wine store is packed with wonderful vines. The family who owns and operates the store all speak English, and they all speak wine. No pressure, but helpful guidance if requested. Prices seemed fair, although we didn't shop around much. Recommended to us by a knowledgable Argentine who entertains a lot.

Such lovely service from the owner of this super little wine shop in San Telmo. It has an excellent selection of Malbec and other wines and is a really nice, non-intimidating environment in which to choose a bottle.

Juan is selling not the common wines you'll find in supermaket. He has some very fine wines from some small bodega that are worth to buy, colome, el porvenir, finca decero, raffy...

I'm not sure the last time anyone went here but I went today in August 2014 and there is no more wine tasting and no tango. Without that it is a very average wine shop. And when the disappointment of that wears off, there aren't many viable alternatives nearby. Don't be fooled like we were!

Staying in San Telmo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
