We went for a business meeting where leaders from USA came to give news and speeches. The architectural details are impressive and the sound quality surprises even to the non-understanding people like me. It would be nice to come again to enjoy a musical show.

We did a tour of the magnificent building and it was excellent on Wednesday, 7 December. We were fortunate to hear some auditions in the theatre and experience the excellent acoustics. However, we lined up for 40mins to get tickets as the computer/internet was apparently down. No one explained the situation to the long queue until 30mins went by. Then... More

The best way to see this marvelous old theater is to see a production here. You can take the subway to a show but be advised that you may have to take a cab or walk home. We walked about 7 blocks and felt perfectly safe because of a large police presence. You have to see the people to see... More

Second time I have tried to visit but have not been able to. They say they are open to the public from 9-6 but you are not allowed in unless you are in a guided tour at times that are not disclosed. They are generally booked out but apparently you can book on line but it's in Spanish so difficult for... The building (inside) is beautiful, and really deserves a visit, so go early (probably mid-week quieter), get a ticket for the next tour in your language, and then sight-see the local area until time for your tour.

One of the mandatory places to visit, even if you aren't a Opera fan. The beauty inside is amazing also the tour is really good explaining all the missing details. Only one note to tell that is the best "teatro" in the world to hear Opera due to the acoustic characteristics.

You will need to book a time in advance for tickets to do the tour of the theatre. This is well worth the effort and our guide gave us plenty of interesting information about the building and especially amazed to be told about the auditorium. I won't spoil it by telling you! Not my taste in architecture but still fascinating.... More

The Teatro Colon is just beautiful! And the sound achieved is a true triumph. Inquire at the ticket office about any upcoming free shows- you just may get lucky as we did! We did not do the tour due to time constraints but I hear that it is well worth it.
