Carlos Gardel was a French Argentine singer, songwriter, composer and actor, and the most prominent figure in the history of tango. The statue is a apt tribute to his memory and worth seeing if in the area.

After shopping at the Abasto Shopping Center, we walked across and behind to Carlos Gardel little street with homage to the great Tango singer, Carlos Gardel. It was fun seeing the statues of a bandoneon, and Tita Merello, along with shops selling Tango nicknacks.
