Our hotel arranged for this excursion, saying it was the most traditional in the city. It featured folkloric musicians, tango dancers and a live 5-piece orchestra. The evening included a so-so meal at the accompanying restaurant across the street. overall a pleasant evening

Paid 90 USD for the show only with two drinks but only were given one. The show itself is not that bad, not north worth the price paid, not even worth half that. Went as a group, sat on the second floor. I liked the instrument group. I wondered if others paid that much. Worst deal of the entire Argentina... More

An old establishment, we did not have dinner but instead paid $100. per person to sit up front and center with unlimited champagne. What a great show! Very professional with several couples dancing, soloists, instrumentalists, singers and more.

We have now been to 5 tango shows in Buenos Aires and this is our favorite. First they serve dinner in a very pleasant restaurant in a seperate building there is a wide choice of appetizers and main courses. The bife de chorizo steak was excellent and the Malbec wine was free flowing. After dinner, at around 10 pm you... More

Had dinner there too which was a choice between 3 starters, 3 mains and 3 desserts. Included was a bottle of Malbec or assorted other drinks. Dinner at 8 and the show starts at 10. The show was absolutely stunning. 4 excellent tango couples who 'burnt the floor'. Interspersed were a Peruvian pan pipe foursome, a female singer and a... More

While the venue could hold many more, we were "lucky" to be the front centre table...excellent views of the workers and band, and some very good tango. Didn't go for the dinner, but the service and drinks were of good standard. They could handle many more upstairs, but if you can get near the stage, you are all set to... More

I came to this show 15 years ago and it is still a great show today: it has kept this old fashion character which create a great ambiance for the tango. The decor hasn't changed, but it's still up to date reminding the old tango days. The musicians and the dancers were as passionate as the tango is. The small... More

I really enjoyed the tango and indigenous music show in this place, dancers, singers and musician were absolutely great and they seem quite authentic and enjoying doing the show. Dinner is optional and it is another matter, it is not terrible but not great either for value, so my recommendation is to find a local traditional restaurant in san Telmo... More

The tango show was exactly what we wanted. Superb seats right at the front. It is well laid out and not too big so all seats have a good view. We did eat at the restaurant next door as part of the package but it was only ok.

Staying in San Telmo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
