Balcarce is one of the most creative areas of Buenos Aires. It runs parallel to Calle Defense and through the bohemian San Telmo district. If you love graffiti and street art fan, there is a lot to see down here. It is a very tolerant area, I felt quite safe walking around on a Sunday afternoon after checking out the market on Defense. There are come nice cafes, even a gay bar down here.

Balcarce St. has the Pink House which is the President's House on Plaza de Mayo. There are vendors selling stuff and it is a bit interesting. It is also an area where there are a lot of thieves and some elderly woman split stuff on me and tried to steal my purse. It is better to visit during the week rather than the weekends because the area is pretty empty on the weekends.
