Carlos Gardel resting place... and some architectural interest

It is impressive to see so many plates in Carlos Gardel's tomb with moving inscriptions from so many places around the world. The sculpture itself is a normal thing but reading the dedications from so many admirers and corporations gives you an idea of the importance of this myth of Argentinian music and culture. Apart from that there are the... More

Visited a friend who lived here. I went walking through one day on my own and thought it was really interesting. Lots of stuff to look at. It's quite large! I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to see it, when Recoleta is larger, but this is more of a park than Recoleta, so you'll see more cool... More

Not sure if one should describe a cemetery, as one reviewer did, as cool. Never mind; the Chacarita is larger and more spread out than the Recoleta, plus admission is free. However I wouldn't have minded paying for a site plan, as it can be hard to find one's way around and the outer "streets" are not signposted. I had... More

Bigger than Recoleta and in some ways more interesting. I was with tango fans so we had to pay homage to Gardel the famous tango singer. I thought tango was only a dance and did not know it was sung. There are artists, athletes and racers there also.

Huge cemetery that is as cool as recoleta, but much larger and more diverse. You can drive through this cemetery so it is very easy to drive the road and hope out and take pics of what you want. very cool.

Most tourists visit the famous Recoleta Cemetery in the Barrio of Recoleta, in Buenos Aires. But only a few make a point of visiting the Chacarita Cemetery “Cementario de la Chacarita” in the Barrio of Chacarita. This is despite the fact that the Chacarita Cemetery is the largest in Argentina [probably in South America] and is quite interesting. Granted, people... More

If you like tango, you need to go to Carlos Gardel's burial place! It is in the Chacarita Cemetery. His tomb is a pilgrimage place for all tango lovers. It is really fascinating to see all the plaques from different tango lovers around the world. You also need to light a cigarrette and leave it in Carlitos hand, as a... More

Great place to get awesome pictures! The best part is that it is a drive free zone so you can drive by any area of the place and park wherever you want to get out and take a good photo. If you don´t have a vehicle, there is a mini van going around the principal streets. This is the oldest... More

As someone who believes you understand a people by what they buy and how they die I find visits to cementries compulsory. Less well known then the Recoleta this is still worthwhile for a visit. It no longer contains Peron but has Carlos Gardel and Jorge Newberry -both of these are interesting to study. Transport is easy via the train... More
