Very nice cafe and excellent customer service

We came to this cafe several times during our trip. It's close to the park San Martin and has a wide selection. The customer service is excellent

Always a good sign to see mature waiters in smart white jackets. Suggests a longstanding good restaurant. Not disappointed in the fare, light lunch of cheese and ham toastie excellent, as was the cheese and ham soufflé- basically similar but the meat chopped and the toastie crimped and toasted in a machine. A pleasure to get tea in a pot... More

Their cheesecake is the best!! Not the typical New York cheesecake but since Buenos Aires yet lacks a good New York style cheesecake, I'd rank this soufflé cheesecake the best in town!! Today I tried their pistachio eclair. A nice surprise that it was actually very good with enough pistachio instead of some of those "almost only cream" sort of... More

A classic café in the downtown area of Buenos Aires, under the same name as the street it's on. Always packed, staff is friendly and attentive, and the coffee is always consistently very good. It is inexpensive to have lunch at this place.

We stumbled upon Florida Garden Cafe while walking along Calle Florida and from the crowd inside decided we should try it for lunch. In this traditional Argentinian cafe, the atmosphere was upbeat, the service was friendly and efficient, and the sandwiches were tasty. The huge windows make it easy and fun to people watch on Calle Florida.

During a recent visit to BA for a family wedding we were based near this excellent cafe and it quickly became my favourite place to find sanctuary from the frenetic pace of the city. The white coated waiters are friendly and seem to take a real pride in delivering well prepared and tasty food with something of a flourish. Excellent... More

Have used this cafe on previous visits to BA and it maintains its traditional image. Food is good (great cheesecake), good service. If you need lunch, or a snack, it's a great place to drop in.

Was a great experience. Hope next time to find my old friends. Do not expect great cuisine, but a quick lunch, the ambiance is great, Is a... More

Half an hour wait for a cup of hot chocolate. What more can I say. Oh yes, that the waiter really didn't seem to care. apart from that it is a classic place to go.

It's a great place. I've had coffee there dozens of mornings. I've never had a meal there, but I go for coffee and cookies or pastry at the stand-up counter.

Staying in Retiro

Neighbourhood Profile
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighbourhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
