Top ways to experience Madero Tango and nearby attractions

The area
Neighbourhood: Puerto Madero
From its refurbished red brick buildings and port cranes to its modern skyscrapers and luxurious apartment buildings, Puerto Madero is the perfect combination of old and new. The river provides a quiet, relaxing atmosphere that contrasts with the hustle and bustle of heavy traffic just blocks away. Across the river, flanked by skyscrapers, are beautiful parks and quiet streets that make this neighbourhood a unique destination in a city as busy as Buenos Aires. The restaurants, bars, and nightclubs on the docks make it a prime spot for nights out and have come to symbolise this area. Puerto Madero is even more striking after dark, when the lights from the docks and skyscrapers glow against the night sky.

The food was ok but too expensive, the tomatoes were super scarce, all souces were too much and the show was good but too long to tell you the truth, we got tired and got back home earlier than expected, too bad...

We are two mild-mannered Brits, but our experience here did rile us.
Firstly, the company’s own transfer was running late so the driver sped perilously through BA city and we arrived just as the show was starting.
We had been quoted $40 pp, but this was converted to Pesos by the box office at a rate that doubled the equivalent USD price. When we challenged this, we were met with argumentative staff who told us to take it up with head office - they even called them and handed the phone over to us! When I did complain, the person on the phone hung-up!
We asked to be taken back to our hotel and were told that all the buses had left, so we would have to wait 1.5 hrs until the end of the show, (when we went outside the buses were still there). We end up getting the public bus back and didn’t see the show.
All-in-all, a disappointment and not BA at its finest. There are many tango shows in the city…I would avoid this one and pick a more professional alternative that is less of a tourist trap.

The only redeeming quality of this entire experience was our waiter, David, who was attentive and friendly.
Beyond that, this was an utter and complete disappointment. As a guest, the experience is atrocious. The van was late, the check in has a giant line, the tables are packed incredibly tight, and the room had zero air conditioning. It was sweltering.
The food is alright but for the price it’s quite substandard.
Now, as a production designer…the show is one of the worst things I’ve yet to see. This isn’t a cheap outing, and the show looks like an amateur production company. The sound is outstandingly bad, nobody on our side could hear a single thing. The lighting is bad. The content is bad. The random chunks of talking is all in Spanish which really isn’t a great idea for an international show. The ensemble cast clearly didn’t know the choreography. For some reason “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina” was sung on a tango show?
The specialty couples are fantastic, but that cannot be a redeeming quality in a $80 USD a seat show in Argentina. We felt ripped off.

We went for the Christmas Eve party which was a lot of fun. We were picked up and dropped off to our hotel by a shuttle coach. The food was pretty standard but the wine was nice and plentiful! The tango was really entertaining, maybe not to most traditional tango but we enjoyed it and the party afterwards was great.

I spent my new year's eve at Madero Tango and it was very satisfactorily. The transfer arrived just in time at the hotel, our seats were just in front of the stage, and food was fine. The waiter Antonio was nice and helpful. The show was good, mainly the Evita performance. At midnight, there was a short fireworks exhibition at the Madero Port, with good music, mostly Brazilian. The transfer back to the hotel was very animated.

Where do I Start ?
I only went for the show no dinner.
On arrival we were shown to our seats which were up on a balcony
Great view of the diners below but view of the stage was blocked by interior support columns and technical appliances,
The show started very late.
There was another function going on in another room the loud music drowning out the music from the tango show
After 30 minutes decide to leave the venue as it was a very disappointing evening
The show was more like a musical than a tango show
The performance of the singers was very poor.
I would not recommend anyone to visit this venue.
A total waist of money.

Very bad organization, expensive and the food is awful. A person who was in the same table as mine found a hair in her food! Very disappointing! The seat where i stayed was with bad view to the stage! Don’t waste you money and time!

First, as soon as you get to your table, you have to choose your dinner from the menu (which includes starter, main course and dessert - there are veggie options). We really enjoyed the fact that they serve water, wine, beer and champagne with no restrictions. The show itself is really beautiful, both dancers and orchestra are amazing! And after the show, depending on the type of ticket you bought, you can have a quick tango lesson.

Nice show, but it has nothing to do with traditional tango and is more a musical than anything else. Also, it’s a total rip off, tourists pay 3 times more than locals!
