One can see the monument from Park Francia (close to Recoleta Cementary) as it stands quite tall. To honour General Alvear, an outstanding politician and military man who participated in the war of Independence and was chairman of the Assembly when National Sovereignty was declared in 1813. It was said to have taken 10 years to complete by French sculptor Antoine Bourdelle. The equestrian figure on top was in bronze and at the four angles of the base stood four statutes representing liberty, victory, strength and eloguence. It is worth taking a closer look if you happen to pass by.

There are many monuments to military figures throughout the city. This is the largest and most imposing I saw. It has open areas around it and can be seen from afar

This imposing monument is located on Plaza Julio de Caro in the Recoleta district and was erected in honour of Carlos Maria De Alvear. It is a work by French sculptor Antoine Bourdelle and took 10 years to complete. The monument was completed in France and shipped to Buenos Aires on completion in 1925. The sculpture and pedestal is of polished pink granite and bronze figures also by Bourdelle. The monument has been located on this site since 1926.
