this site is at a left turn from La Ruta De Los Caracoles 2k north of Uspallata. Strange chimneys in a row were used to smelt copper and other metals. A somewhat disjointed museum includes local archaeology but very little on how the industry worked.
not the best place to visist at uspallata. Nice historical house. If you're interested by energetic places ask how to go at the tourist information.

An old Jesuit mineral furnace. Guided tours for free, although they asked for a tip. Much of the place has been rebuilt or is closed to the public because of earthquakes. Still kind of interesting for a quick visit.
