Well worth a visit to this small but fascinating museum showing the sacrificial culture of children and the artifices buried with them for the afterlife.

This museum is a one of a kind treasure in the city center of salta!! Lots of information in both English and Spanish. Great student discount (only $40) pesos. Glad that I checked it out.

Interesting, the top point was the mummy. There are not so many things, organized. Well located, downtown

Interesting and well organized little museum on the Plaza 9 de Julio. The museum features 3 mummified bodies (2 on display when we visited) of children who had been sacrificed in Inca times and their bodies buried and preserved on the top of a mountain....More

We enjoyed this unusual museum, which is basically designed around the three mummies retrieved from the high Andes. The display by definition is limited but well worth the visit. You cannot go backwards and so don't forget to linger at the final exhibit.

Lots of history to see as well as the famous child mummies. A well told story. The price has gone up to $130

This is beautifully and sensitively designed, it is more like a shrine to the three mummified children than a traditional exhibition. I would put this at the top of any visit to Salta

This is a tiny museum, but has something special that you definitely don't see everyday - mummy children! We took our kids (aged 9 & 10) to see the child mummy (only one is on display at any time), and they were fascinated, of course....More

Small but mighty - this is a must see in Salta right on the main square. The musuem is well laid out and really tells the story. This is not a long visit but a very informative one.
