We came here from a Celebrity cruise and enjoyed the towns of Puerto Montt and Puerto Madryn. Our favorite was Ushuaia and bay of the same name where you see beautiful fjords and the proverbial End of the World. We got lucky because the Pacific and Atlantic oceans can make for a violent collision of water and a rocky ship ride. It was so calm and the ship personnel had never seen this way before.…

we saw the beach before getting onto the boat and it was quite a good looking beach but very few people on it. The surf was very little but it looked good enough for a swim

There is not too many things to do in the city of Puerto Madryn, besides seeing penguins, so quite good idea is to take some rest on the beach. However this one is not so clean, but it is really huge, so I'm pretty sure that you can find there some nice spots.

VISITED SEPTEMBER 2013 Puerto Madryn has an unique place to live the real experience with PENGUINS. More than 200,000 Penguins canbe found within the extensive lands of ESTANCIA SAN LORENZO, managed by the same family for more than 100 years. In addition, the owners collaborate with biological and ecological programs to preserve and study the habitat and all it's ecosystems. A huge advantage is that it is the only place where you can have the complete experience in the same area: WHALES, ELEPHANT SEALS, PENGUINS. This place is so unique that the local government "competes" with a second best (PUNTA TOMBO'S PENGUINS), which is located really far away from the other attractions must-see attractions (Elefant Seals, and WHALES) Estancia San Lorenzo is ideal for adults and childrens, because you can enjoy a typical Patagonian food (baby roasted lamb, excellent Malbec, meat empanadas), an unique experience with Penguins and Elefant Seals because of the quantity and also because they get really close! (close means 20cms, no touching of course!). Then you can have the whale experience with a short driving distance from the Estancia. It is important to note that Estancia SAN LORENZO has "no marketing initiatives" going on and that is because they only need "mouth-to-mouth" marketing between europeans, local argentines and americans to be booked way in advance each year. (you can guess who does not want Estancia San lorenzo to promote their unique experience!) As recommendation: sun screen, comfortable clothing (layered fleece/ goretex) , binoculars, walking sticks, breathable mountain shoes, dry fit socks, cargo pants, small backpacks, waterpack, camera (zoom 50-250 or 300), sunglasses, cap. During SEPTEMBER you will see plenty of whales, elephant seals reproduction dynamic between male/female competing with each other, nice wheater dough cold in the mornings.…
