This city and the area in general was settled in the 1850s by Welsh immigrants, and while a modern small town it still has a few cold structures and cultural attraction we saw as part of a cruise ship tour. Had afternoon tea at the Welsh Tea House and had a short city tour. Of US H iui storic note, there is a hotel in the city where Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid stayed around 1908 before traveling to Boliva.

Allow plenty of time in Gaiman especially if you are Welsh. The tourist office gave us a plan but we ran out of time. Museum fascinating with Welsh speaking curator. Gave lots of background and had visited North Wales. Settlement more successful than generally portrayed. Est. 5000 welsh speakers here. Welsh tea huge expect to take half home. Croeso arbebnig!

We had the most delicious tea and cakes in this town! We got a reservation at Ty Gwin which we loved. It’s a very sleepy town when there are no cruise tours and completely shuttered if in the morning so plan accordingly. Very sweet way to celebrate my birthday!

Just 80 km away from Puerto Madryn you’ll get to see a Welsh town in Argentina. Gaiman is famous for its Welsh tea, in which you’ll be able to taste a delicious assortment of different kinda of cake and bread. The atmosphere is truly cozy. Don’t miss it!

I took the tour because there was nothing else to do in the area if you are not driving. The only thing that I liked was the view of the river at sunset....amazing pics!
