Southern Spirit Cruises, an authorised boat operator for the watching...

Southern Spirit Cruises, an authorised boat operator for the watching service of southern right whales is pleased to offer you the following services:CONVENTIONAL WATCHING (Regular trip)The regular program consists of an excursion on the Golfo Nuevo waters on board of RIBs (rigid inflatable boats). The breathtaking show of watching closely a whale with her calf, observing a breach or listening to a whale’s spout is an experience you will hardly forget. As from spring, during the navigation you will be able to watch sea lions in their rookeries and typical species of sea birds, apart from enjoying beautiful seaside landscapes. SUNSET WATCHINGAs from September, we will be offering a special longer trip in RIBs with only a few passengers on board. This excursion is the last trip of the day, and is usually chosen by lovers of photography due to the light and peculiar colours that the Patagonian sunset offers us. YELLOW SUBMARINE (Underwater whale watching)This trip is carried out on board of the semi-submersible Yellow Submarine which, unlike other vessels, allows us to watch whales submersed in their environment. Underwater, the perspective is totally different and the experience is similar to diving among them. By means of any of the 40 viewing windows located at the underwater level you will be able to watch the whales while they remain close to the vessel, or you may opt for watching them from the outdoor upper deck as a conventional watching tour.

I'll keep it short. We did it once with young kids and we loved so much that we came back and do it again, and we would have been back again if not for our schedule. You basically... read more

I'll keep it short. We did it once with young kids and we loved so much that we came back and do it again, and we would have been back again if not for our schedule. You basically would be able to stretch you arm and touch a 10m long whale if you were not told not to do so... More

Loved this whale-watching trip! Was able to get onto a 5:30pm tour - which was great because it wasn't full and had perfect lighting for photographing whales and then a beautiful sunset! We learned that all of the companies charge the same price for the tour. We went with this one because of availability (our hotel called and checked for... More

Absolutely fabulous staff. Special thanks to Sanda in the tour office in Puerto Piramidas; that woman deserves a raise. Went above and beyond to ensure I had a fantastic experience seeing whales. Everything was great; the boat, the guides, the price. Highly recommend!

We took the "yellow submarine" tour and what we saw was overwhelming. Seeing those 50 tons creatures jump into the air leaves one speechless. And then seeing the little one, an only 20 tons one so close to you (through the windows of the submerged part) is really amazing. Since my wife does not speak Spanish, they've assigned Anna to... Great service and would recommend to call ahead to check if the tour is running. Booked the yellow submarine tour with intention of seeing the whales under the water but it is difficult to see them under the water although the whales do swim close to the boats. You're better off in the upper deck and there are so many... More

We opted to get the return public bus out to the Valdez peninsula and scoped out Southern Spirit as one of the better companies to whale watch with. The company have all the latest equipment and send a photographer out with the boat. They're honest in-so-far as how many whales you can expect to see - we were there in... More

Book our tours in advanced. Called to confirm reservations and whether the trip would be cancelled due to weather prior to heading over. Told to come on over, the tour would proceed regardless of whether even if we were only ones on the tour! Showed up and told due to whether tours would be cancelled. However, contradicting what we were... More

Came here last year and did 3 trips with Southern Spirit. Got some amazing photos and videos, one of the latter featured on Select Latin America website who organised the trip. Came back this year and never occurred to us to request same company for whale trips. Oh how disappointed we were when reality struck. The Southern Spirit boats have... More

I am not sure how to describe this attraction, because the experience of meeting those huge and beautiful animals out there is simply unique and amazing. Now, on the tour: there are many good companies providing similar services. Make sure you understand 1) if you are visiting in the right season for whale watching, 2) which kind of boat do... More

We did the Sunset Whale tour. After passing the lobo's nearby the Piramid, we went pretty far out of the bay to see the whales by sunset. It was very cold because of the strong wind, make sure you wear warm clothes. Both english and spanish information by guides and a nice roof deck for a good view. Although the... More
