Do not expect an easy day... And plan your trip well... We made the trip with a rented cmall car and it was great. It is easy to drive to the park entrance but then the drive on the dirt road is demanding. And remember that the road is open for traffic in different directions at different times. The views are great. And do not limit tour visit to just the view point to the Tronador and Black Glacier but plan the waterfall also... Listen to the roar of cracking ice... Enjoy the views... Be prepared for strong and cold wind... Remember that the road from Pampa Linda is closed for traffic downwards until 4 p.m. And going on your own can be much better than going with a group...Then you can take your time and see everything at your own pace...…

We took a bus from Bariloche up to pampa Linda and then hiked up to waterfalls over 300' high cascading off a Mt Tronador glacier called Castano Overa. It was spectacular the whole way going through a lovely old growth forest. The hike is relatively easy 9 miles round trip with maybe only 1000' of elevation gain. The lake and forest scenery during the bus ride was also very beautiful. We wished that we had planned to camp and spend more time in this area - there are several beautiful campgrounds along the lake shoreline. …

It's a beautiful mountaing that dominates the area close to Pampa Linda. Try to hear the ice breaking (it's name relates to that). You will find to spots to have a nice view of Tronador if you hike to Ilon and, from there, to Refugio Rocca. But it's not easy at all" Be prepared.

They have a special/crook management for tourists: they put reduced price for an excursion and assure you that all is included but food. Then upon arrival to the place you learn that you need to pay an additional price, in cash, they do not accept credit cards, (neither in cafes). Don t trust them, better to book with any others but not with them. They are crooks.…
