We have to keep pollution out of this beautiful place. So far, the efforts are non existent. But we all can get there. You can get here on public transport.

Llao llao patagonia, argentina is one of the most remarkable places in the western hemisphere. Beautiful beyond description and yet very accessible. I have visited 5 times and still looking forward to my next trip.

It is worth walking to the top of Llao Llao, the views are quite stunning. Moderate walk, easy to follow and accessible by bus.

1. Get the map which is handed out at all lodgings showing Bariloche city streets and the surroundings;
2. Bariloche now requires a ride card for public transport. I bought mine at "Kiosko Drug Strore Area 91" in the 0-100 block of the street Bartolome Mitre. I recall that the card costs about 120 pesos and that each ride is 35 pesos;
3. take the #20 bus west. You can catch the bus on Avenida San Martin on the other side of the street from the big Nahuel Huapi National Park Headquarters building (Intendencia del Parque Nacional Nahuel Huapi);;
4. stay on the bus until its last stop of Puerto Panuelo;
5. after getting off the bus, continue walking west on the highway. Follow the sign for "circuito chico;"
6 after walking about 600 yards, you will see a sign on the left side for .Sendero Arrayanes. If you walk about 200 yards farther on the highway, you will a sign on the right for Cerro Llao Llao trail ;
7 there is no public transportation on the "circuito chico" road after Puerto Panuelo. Therefore, after finishing whichever hike or hikes you choose, you will have to walk back to Puerto Panuelo to catch the bus.

Spent several hours hiking with our group in this beautiful park. The views are spectacular & the trails are well groomed & easy to navigate. Our guide made the visit even better as she described the history & pointed out the varied flora. Highly recommend spending some time here.

You can elect to walk to the Tacul Village picnic area along the lake, and/or climb to the top of the mountain. It’s worth the challenging hike for the views and the fresh mountain air!

There are a number of trails - some quite demanding (such as the trail to Villa Tacul/Cero Llalo). However the one that leads down to Lago Perito Moreno) is gentle, accessible for most fitness levels and surrounded by beautiful trees and scenery. You arrive at a lovely little beach (Playa) with some wonderful scenes of snow c capped mountains. Definitely a great way to get some exercise.

Some of the signage was in disrepair, and areas of the park were closed, but the trees, shores, and vistas were stunning. The view from the summit of Cerro Llao Llao was one of the most beautiful sights I’ve ever seen.

We were glad to see Ayelen and Roberto (Limay Travel) again as they cheerfully picked us up at the Design Suite hotel at 9am for our Circuito Chico (small circuit) tour. This tour would follow around Lago Moreno to Llao Llao and back. In essence, this was a compact, four-hour tour that had the most gorgeous scenery in the Argentine Lake Region of Patagonia.
As we approached the loop road on the western point of Rio Negro region, Ayelen was filling in a lot of meaningful history that we did not get with the large “7 Lakes “ bus tour we took yesterday. She explained that the region became an affluent retreat for Buenos Aires in 1932 and had great timber to harvest (until it was all gone in the mid 1940s). One of the projects was the Hotel on Llao Llao peninsula tat used up 10,000 pieces of timber alone. During the Peronista years (1940s/1950s), the government built military camps and hotels/resorts for union members. But more importantly, back in 1895, there was a group of Swiss immigrants that came over from Chile to set up Colonia Suiza deep in the forest and became self sufficient. We would by pass this stop since the artisan fair was not going on that would have displayed Alpine works nor cook up their famous Polynesian inspired Curanto (earthen paella slowed cooked under banana leaves).
Nevertheless, we had plenty of gorgeous panoramic photo stops starting with the Ardillo Buceo (Scuba Shop) on Lago Moreno, looking out across this lake to the Brazo Blest and Lago Nahuel Huapi. Soon we started getting beautiful long views of the Llao Llao peninsula and its famous hotel. It reminded me so much of the majestic resort hotels in North America that were built with majestic mountains as backdrops (think the Chateau on Lake Louise or at Banff Springs, or even the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs). We thought of staying there but at almost $1,000 per night, we were just a happy the vista and walking the grounds. Speaking of which, we did walk around the hotel grounds ( for free) with great weather and had so many enjoyable visual encounters with both the original and new wings of the hotel, with the Cerro Lopez acting as the welcoming peak of the nearby Andes. As a bonus, we visited the hotel’s Catholic Church, which was done in all native wood, inside and out.
After a memorable visit to Llao Llao, we headed east to finished the small circuit around the lake but our tour was not done. On our way out, Ayelen checked on the lines for the Cerro Campanario (Bell Tower Hill) sky lift and decided to do at the end of the tour. Good move. Once we reached the summit (after a short sky lift ride,) you had a nice terraced patio with eateries, a stone tower and a metal cross at its peak. Lots of vistas and trails to take in the alpine beauty in all directions.

Saludos

I am leading a group of 5 to Bariloche and several members are unable to do long and/or steep hikes. Would they be able to do this hike in Llao Llao? If not, do you have any recommendations around Bariloche? We were thinking about some doing the gondola up Catedral and others hiking up the mountain to meet them at the top. Practical? Going end of November. Any guidance is much appreciated!

I'm 48 y/o, i mean. i can walk, and the trail journey take me almost 3 hours. round trip. If you are tired, you can turn around and back.
The view and nature in this area are wonderfull.
