People walk around the outside and walk into the park via the gates that are on the far side of the park. It is surprisingly expensive to go in there.

The lagoon is located in El Calafate, about 800m from downtown. It has a small trail for you to walk and surround the lagoon and have some views of this one and the Argentinian Lake.

The reserve is within a 15-minute easy walk from the centre of El Calafate. Entrance is A$150 for non-nationals but is for multi-entry - if you are keen bird-watchers and plan to return. Bring binoculars or hire for A$50. The path is well marked, with several viewpoints and two hides; signs and illustrations at various points in Spanish and a... More

Nice opportunity to take a walk and watch lake birds, very low key but beautiful. We returned for a second visit. Ticket is valid for a return visit.

Laguna Nimez is definitely worth a visit. The trail around the reserve is short, but we easily spent close to two hours walking around and looking at all of the birds. You should totally check it out you're into birds/nature and photography or are just looking for a nice walk.

We didn't want to miss the place due to the reviews on TA so we went early morning (9am) before leaving town. We walked around the entire laguna but saw almost no birds! Very disappointing.

First of all, say that this place felt like the biggest mistake of our Calafate visit. A$150 pp very badly spent. Even more so, when we realised that we could have walk outsode the fence eastwards to where you can reach the public entry of the beach, then backtrack westwards on the beach to wjere the Reserve boundry fence has... Definitely rent binoculars at the entrance if you didn't bring your own. We walked slowly, we listened carefully and we were rewarded. We were there for a bit over 2 hours and we saw at least 15 kinds of birds. The price was A$150. And the good news is that you can come back another day using the same ticket.... More
