Hundreds of Birds

I experience this visit as part of the Channel of Beagle guided tour. It was amazing to see hundreds and hundred of birds in this inhabited island. Pretty cool.

This cruise takes you past so many vistas and exciting spots to see. The lighthouse, the penguins and the bays of Ushuaia all are spectacular in their own individual ways. An absolute must is to take your own binoculars - don't share - it's worth the extra bit of weight!

Most of the boat trips from Ushuaia pull alongside for a few minutes in each direction. Interesting to see the birds' behavior. Beautiful scenery.

Boat ride between Andes mountain ranges of Chile and Argentina. It can be chilly even in Summer. Wildlife viewing mostly of birds. Bring binocs &/or telephoto lens, and coat, hat, maybe gloves. Quite enjoyable, even thrilling.

We were with a tour group by catamaran. We saw all kinds of birds and seals. Nice to see the intricate waterway, and coast of Argentina.

Loved walking on the island for an hour with an enthusiastic guide. Much better than going in a large boat and peering down at the penguins. Only one tour company offer the walk on the island.easy to find their cabin near the port.

Visited this island as part of a cruise in the Beagle Channel primarily to see bird life. Such a large number of birds living on such a small island. It was lovely to watch them flying and diving to catch fish. A bit smelly but this is to be expected when visiting a bird colony.

Take a boat ride to see this little island full of cormorants and other native wildlife. The catamarans are able to get VERY close and manuever so both sides get a chance to see.

I was hesitant at first to go with this company which has a monopoly to walk the island (all other tours cannot allow you to disembark) plus the price was a bit steep. It all, however, was worth it. The guides are very well trained and they gave us plenty of time on the island to get very close to... More
