Found this great park within 20 minutes of Phoenix. Beautiful reservoir with scenic views. The hiking trails on the north side of the lake were fantastic. Beautiful desert scenery, wildlife and well maintained trails.

I had been to this lake many years ago not long after it was expanded and I had not been back, as it was very ugly with many logs floating and reports of rattle snakes and scorpions swimming in the water. It was ugly.

Happened to be in town for paddlefest, so much fun, came with whole family 5, 10, 12 and grandma. We all had a blast. A bunch of venders come out and let you borrow their kayaks and paddle boards for free!!! So much fun!!
Great trails and great desert camping and there is water! Kayaks for rent too! There is even a marina and a restaurant (which we didn't try). What a fantastic park with many different trails and wild burros that come into the camp in the evening....More
