The stretch of Route 66 from Kingman to Needles, CA is one of the two original sections of Arizona Route 66 that divert from I-40. You'll add hours to your journey by taking this route, but those are hours well spent. The road heads pretty...More

So glad we took old 66 from Kingman to Needles. Beautiful drive, and Oatmen was a favorite stop for the whole family. Ghost town in a beautiful setting with the uniqueness of the donkeys running around. If you are driving I40, take this scenic drive!

Beautiful landscape on the way to Oatman (a quaint, small, "Old West" kind of place). GREAT convertible drive! (We didn't actually spend any time in Oatman as a tour bus had just arrived.)

Beautiful drive, but Don't go this way if you are in any kind of hurry. Single lanes, very narrow and little to no shoulder on most places. Expect to drive 10 to 15 MPH most of the way to Oatman.

We took Route 66 to Oatman from Kingman, and found the pass along the way. Beautiful drive. Lots of different rock formations. California poppies in bloom. Easy drive. Lots of twists and turns, but slow pace of 15 - 25 mph allowed you to see...More

Anyone in a hurry should not take Sitgreaves Pass. We had one such person behind us on this twisty, two lane road with no place for us to pull over. Why not just take your time and enjoy the view, which is breathtaking?

This is the old route 66, and it is worth the drive from Kingsman to Oatman Az. The view is better this way. And there are 3 museum in Kingsman worth seeing, 4 dollars for all three.

We chose to travel over Sitgreaves Pass on our journey from California to Arizona. The road was generally adequately maintained as it twisted and wound up and down the pass. There were occasional turnouts to look at the views, including old mine operations. We were...More

We were headed for Vegas and had time to take the scenic route, so we detoured through Sitgreaves Pass to see a different view. Arizona Route 10 through the Black Mountains was formerly part of Route 66. The road hugs the mountainside as it twists...More

We made the drive from Kingman to Oatman in October as part of our Route 66 quest; a fun and interesting drive. Be prepared for an old, narrow road where you prefer not to meet a large gravel truck coming your way (we did). Ate...More

The view from Kingman in the morning is stunning. It also puts the sun behind you for better photo ops.

If you make your trip from Kingman and go over the pass, it means you are going to go through Oatman and you will want to stop there. However if you just pass through Oatman and go down to 95 business through Bullhead to 163... More

I am unsure of where you are headed for in the Grand Canyon, but Oatman appears to be out of the way as Oatman is halfway between Kingman and the CA border. From the Grand Canyon you could head south toward I-40 and... More
