Great dancing

We go there often. Live band every night. Very crowded Friday and Saturday nights but lots of fun. Cover charge some nights. $3-6. Its where us grown folk go.

Attemded monday jam session. Some, phenomenal musical performances, with a few characters (always at jam sessions). But overall very entertaining. Neither expensive nor suspect. Live music every night It is where the best local musicians go.

I used to come to Chars a couple of times a week when I lived in Phoenix and on our last trip out it has definitely changed. A lot of people in the parking smoking pot, as we walked up the bouncer was picking a fight with a guy, the entry fee would have been reasonable had the place not... More

Don't let the "Blues" name fool ya. It's really Motown and Soul. Best live music in town 7 nights a week. I prefer the weekdays cause it's not so crowded. Every single band that plays here are truly professional musicians and singers! This is the only place I go!

Small, quaint bar. Comfortable atmosphere, small cover charge with great music. The band played a variety of types of music, all good. Hard to sit still. Each person in the band stood out but the drummer was phenomenal. I understand there are a number of bands that play there but they are all suppose to be solid. By 9:30pm everyone... More

As what some may consider an old timer this place is Blues in Phoenix. Started enjoying Char's in my 20's and still enjoying it as I hit 60. One of the few original watering holes with great music.

As an East coast girl, I was expecting a typical snooty jazz and blues club with lots of tables and a traditional band where everyone would sit, listen and clap when they were supposed to. I was quite surprised to find out that the club was packed with friendly people, but also that they were not only watching, they were... More

Going to Arizona when you live in Missouri and going to a "Blues Club" can be a big disappointment. For me Char's has the Blues was an overcrowded bar with live music. The music was ok but not worth the admission price. All I can really say about this place is that it was wall to wall people. Getting a... More

GREAT band, Soul Power cozy (crowded) with amazing diversity to dance to the wonderful sounds of a LIVE band, Soul Brothers! If you are someone who loves to dance in the company of amazing diverse individuals in a city location, this is your place. You feel a strong sense of community with shoulder to shoulder adults!

Chars isn't fancy, spacious, or chic..what it is is a great bar for dancing shoulder to shoulder to classic R&B and blues. Prepare to sweat a bit, make friends, and get down to some great live music.
