Breathtaking in its red rock beauty, the Canyon is a spectacular 16-mile gorge with streams and waterfalls between sheer rock walls.

The drive here is very pretty. There are a few spots to pull off the road and wander a little. Most people are just pulled to the side of the road. It was crowded when we were there. There is also some roadwork going on.

Driving, hiking and camping- all good choices for the Oak Creek Canyon. A day trip from Sedona or Flagstaff or a week's stay. Much to offer for a short drive or longer stay.

We enjoy taking the road through Oak Creek Canyon when we come into Sedona. It's a gorgeous view and fun cork screw down. The scenery is gorgeous.

We were enjoying the beauty of this scenic drive, but the road was under construction...in other words, missing. A good bit of the drive was on dirt. It wasn't a nice ride. Really pretty place though, but no where to pull over for pictures at...More

We drove through this canyon on our way to Flagstaff. It's very pretty as it winds its way up the mountain. Be careful. It's not a wide road and cars are parked everywhere.

What a pleasant place to cool off from the summer heat. We experienced the awesome waters of Slide Rock park and even got a few jumps in from the cliffs.

If you're in the Sedona area and are willing to get up early, there is great birdwatching available from Casner's Canyon trail. Be prepared to get wet crossing the creek. It's worth it because few will follow.

After spending time in Sedona, shopping tasting a few places for sweets and a meal, we decided to check out a place called the Rock slide on the oak river a couple of miles NW of Sidona, itself. It is a bit of climb down...More

Oak Creek Canyon is where to go for water fun and cooler weather from areas south of Sedona. Do not however go on the weekend in the warmer months. We learned in June the locals swarm into the canyon on the weekend to swim/ride down...More

The drive along the canyon is breathtaking. So pretty! Lots of twists and turns where you can peek at Oak Creek. The canyon is literally at the edge of the road. Go early and avoid the heavier traffic so you can enjoy the drive.

Yes, there's Slide Rock it has a cost to get to that part of Oak Creek near Sedona. It was made a park. The creek has a lot of camp sites all along it which may have swimming holes if the water has gotten deep enough.
