About
Loutrakiu Baths or Loutra Pozar, as they are popularly known, are located at the foot of Mount Voras and are a point of reference for Northern Greece, as they offer relaxation and well-being in a unique natural environment. The hot thermal springs form natural waterfalls with thermal water, next to the river of Ag. Nikolaou that crosses the whole of Loutropolis and private pools within the Hydrotherapy Centers provide the possibility for therapeutic baths by appointment. Loutra Pozar is a destination that harmoniously combines two of the basic elements of Greek nature: Earth carved by time and running water that springs from six springs and is famous for its healing properties.

we went and they did not inform us how long we have to sit inside, at some point I heard a bell and we understand that we have to go out. However, the bell rang for a long time but we did not hear it because our pool had a waterfall. And in the end, because I did not listen with the string at the beginning, they charged us next door.

The location is spectacular. A very beautiful green place inside a gorge with thermal water.
But the personeel is rude. They lockers don’t word, you should keep the numbered locker key at your own risk and the changing rooms smell of urine. Such a pity for such a beautiful place.

The river and its waterfalls are cold as ice yet in the far right end hot mineral sprink water forms warm pools. Amazing experience inside green mountain trees those steamy hot pools are good for body and mind together. Surrounding area is picturesque, nice little villages and very good hotels for any requirements. My favourite village "Orma" is like a fairytale! Very importand ancient Pella antiquities are ind driving distance too.

After a journey of more than 2 hours from Thessaloniki, we reached Pozar. After reviews and photos on Google, I was disappointed. It's not about reality! Caves are publicly inaccessible, waterfalls are 2-3 m tall, crowded, dirt everywhere.
It's not worth the road here, the conditions are very modest and you have nothing to do!!

This a place where you forget your worries for an hour or two and just, relax. There are three places where you can go for relaxation. First are the waterfalls , 2/3 are cold and 1/3 warm water, cost 2 euro to enter. This is an outdoor relaxation even in winter and below zero temperature. The second spot is the best one , the indoor private rooms with hot water pools... costing 18 euro for max 6 persons.Third and final is the water-pool with warm water also outside,3 euro per person. This whole place is surrounded with beautiful nature from all sides , culminating in spring. All of this is situated at the northerner part of the settlement Pozar about 30 km north of Edessa supplied with a good road.
The actual settlement is 1 km away from the thermal springs , with lots of hotels and villas offering large variety of different offers for beds and food. Also , one of the best places to eat is the restaurant/tavern "Kaj Mitre" , just try the food and you wont regret it.Good service, top quality food and free wifi internet and best of all - free private parking :D
On the down side , there is not much to do except for the baths, pubs and taverns.
If your goal is a quiet vacation , this is your spot.

Amazing environment, superb hot springs - and nearby fabulous hotels and good tavernas - what more could anyone want for a winter break. However, with 3 different locations for the springs, it can be quite confusing as all are located right next to the river. The furthest away from the village, right in the woods is a restaurant and large open air swimming pool, open all year which is filled with hot spa water. We did not go into this pool as, in December, the temperature was too cool for us, the large area dispersing the hot water quite quickly. Lower down is what one would call the 'main' baths with the famous waterfall and the hot spa pool next to it. This also has a restaurant attached and a good size parking area ( the lift to the restaurant doesn't work). The hot pool is about 1 metre in depth and the bottom is white sand/gravel. This pool is open 24 hours and costs €2 for as long as you like. The changing facilities are basic and if possible take with you flip-flops and a bathrobe. Also a plastic bag to put your robe in as it is often raining and your towel/robe will get wet whilst you are in the pool. Also at this location are the 'private spa pools' or 'hamam'. These pools must be booked in advance (if you are lucky, as we were, you can walk in on the spot). These cost €5 per person. The small pools here have hot spring water seeping up from the bottom of the pool (gravel) so the whole experience here is gentle, quiet relaxation.
The third location, called 'Alexander' and nearest the village, where there are a few stalls with local produce on the opposite side of the road, also has an open air swimming pool and 12 private hamam baths, also €5 per person. All these hamam have water fountains where the hot spring water comes out with some force, thus giving you the opportunity of a neck/shoulder/back massage from the falling water. Ask which of the hamam has either one or two water outlets. There is also a massage centre across the road where you can have a massage to complete the indulgence!
Don't worry if you didn't bring your swimming costume - the tourist shop in this location actually sells swimming costumes, flip-flops and towels - a bizarre sight in December - and if you are staying at Roes Suites, they allow you to take their bathrobes to the hamam.

We went there on Dec, 07 2019. There are 3 options:
The outside pool - it looks nice, but during the winter you will freeze before going into the water, and when you get out. You need to walk in the cold to change your cloths. The other 2 options are in rooms, but you need to make a reservation, and you only have a short time to stay in the pool.

If your way bring you to the Pozar bath, dont hesitate to make a stop to enjoy the scenery, the falls and of course grap a change to enjoy yourself inside the nature warm baths and in the same time to feel the cold water of the falls in your body.A natural hamam actually in an amazing nature, well kept from the authoritites and usually also many events taking place there as music festivals. Not far from the town of Thessaloniki around 80 minutes driving. Some times its full of people but if you avoid high seasons you will enjoy something unique that you can find in places like the Budapest natural warm baths.I heard that now on summer they have also buses from thessaloniki center directly to the baths.Go and you will enjoy it every moment.

very picturesque place in the foot of mount Kaimakzala with running mountain river, hot springs and comfortable hotels. You may enjoy a private bath in Alexandros . Incredible nature, fresh air, and if you would like to have a typical greek mountain food - visit the first taverna in Orma ( nearby village) - ta Platanakia.

the facilities gives you a dirty feeling nothing to do like the swiss spas some suggested, it seems that something like that should be the spas in the former east europe during the '70's.

Hello,
Is see there are private hot tubs available. Are they actually private, meaning there is a door and you can swim without people seeing you? Or is it private, meaning that only your family can swim, but the pool is open/without a full door or enclosure?
I want to know if it is private/fully enclosed. The pictures make it look like it is in a quiet area, with a partial wall covering (not a full wall or door). Is that correct?
Thank you, Jenna
