Excellent museum, very well appointed and modern. Really enjoyed the stories of people's lives and how they came to find themselves in Dunedin.

Some interesting exhibits and very enthusiastic staff, but for me, there was no story. It was a jumble of artifacts.

passed this by so many times and never stopped, but this time we did and it was well worth it. Heaps and heaps of things to go, "Oooh I remember that!" over. You sort of wonder how they get it all in. If you've a spare hour or two, stop off.

Loved our visit. Fantastic Exhibits displayed lovingly and to a very high standard. Very clean and tidy. Great use of space. Easy to get around -very accessible. The generosity of the donors and volunteers is to be commended. We loved the story of the handmade doll in the outstanding "war" display. Very reasonable entry fee $5.00. Locals cheaper. Will need... Well worth the stop, full of memorabilia of early NZ , give you a good idea of the struggles the early settlers experienced. Makes you appreciate what we have today. See the waka remnants in the big exhibition room too.

We had our 6 year old niece and they gave her a booklet of photos for her to find- also keeping her interested, on completion she was able... More

Went in on our way to another location with only an hour to see the the exhibits. It was a wonderful display of several different exhibits. Every item was wonderfully explained and some allowed interaction. Would recommend this to anyone who is in the area

Very well presented museum with very interesting displays. Short term ANZAC exhibit better than the one at Napier Museum. We were in the area as we are descendants of an early family. The staff member on duty (I think maybe her name was Charlotte?) was extremely helpful. We stopped in on Friday and when we returned on Sunday she had... More

A massive variety of items in the compact museum. Loads of history has been preserved in and around the museum. They have special days where activities are set up, so you can be hands on.
